NBR: So frustrated! (LONG)

I am getting so fed up with my niece. She's 36 weeks and has a scheduled c/s on Feb 12. This is her second, so it's not new to her. However she is like the epitome of all things that we as J14 can't stand. She's been posting every detail on FB, like when she thought her water broke last month. Her dilation, or lack thereof. And even blocking her updates isn't helpful to me. I got a phone call last week, "Aunt, my contractions are 8 minutes apart, what should I do?" Now today, it's "I'm soooooo uncomfortable, there's so much pressure, I'm going to try to induce labor." Jeez, you're 36 weeks, you're going to be uncomfortable, and if you think you're stressed now, imagine the stress if your induction methods work and you have a 3 year old and a baby in the NICU!

She's also delusional, I think. She's said that once the baby's here she's going to get so much more sleep, because she's not BFing, so her FI can just get up and do all the feedings. And if he doesn't her mom can, because they live with her and she's up for work at 4 anyway, so why not just take care of the baby then. It just really gets me that she has these kids but doesn't want to take the responsibility to care for them. SIL is at fault though too, for letting them live there free and not even insisting that they work around the house. My niece doesn't work at all, but still depends on everyone to take care of her kids.

Sorry this got so long. The talk of early induction really just was the straw that broke the camel's back, and no one else can understand just all the things wrong with the situation.

Re: NBR: So frustrated! (LONG)

  • How old is your niece?  It seems like she is very immature. I can't blame you for venting. Honestly, she reminds me of my sister.

  • She'll be 24 in a few weeks. She's never really had to do anything for herself.

  • That sounds like my little sister, she is 22 with 2 kids and she just lives off people and moves from place to place all the time and only talks to us when she wants money. It's sad really. Anyways, I'm so sorry your dealing with this right now
  • I can't stand people like this.  Trying to induce labor was the last thing on my mind until I hit 40 weeks.  Doesn't she realize the risks?  Especially if her EDD is off?  I feel bad for the kids, and for you!
