Baby Proofing

So my house is basically baby proofed. But we're having problems with out entertainment center. I'll attach pictures.

The problem we are having is that the drawers aren't really working with those plastic push latches. The latches don't really meet. So E can get right in. Short of taking the handles of, I don't know what else to do. Suggestions?

First pic is the front of the drawer the second is the lip on the inside.

Edit: forgot to attach pics.

Re: Baby Proofing

  • This probably doesn't work with your set up but since ours is open we gated it off. DH just got those plastic sticky hooks to attach it to the wall image

  • Loading the player...
  • We have this gate infront of ours. It can screw into the wall. It's summer infant.

  • Our TV is slightly lower than the gate. I tried that but then we can't change the channels or get the remotes to register. Boo.

  • Yes, the shelf above the drawer is glad and twice I've caught e trying to stand in the drawer, and hanging in the glass. I would love to just put baby stuff on the shelf and in the drawer but no if he's going to climb in it!

  • It has the sharp metal drawer track on the bottom. Definitely not made with kids in mind... ;)

  • How do they fasten to the surface? Are they going to mark up or gunk up the surface of my wood entertainment center?

  • @drea926 - how do you fasten your gates on to the wall?  We have the same gates, serving the same function (protecting the entertainment center), but ours aren't secured in any way.  What are those hooks you mentioned?

Also, does anyone have any ideas for how to keep the outlet covers *IN* the outlets?  DS just goes around pulling them out now, which kind of defeats the purpose.
  • @Dannysmama we used these to hook it to the wall:

  • I seriously doubt this will work for most other people, but we have an open-shelf tv stand, and I ended up using the mesh crib bumpers that we had and wrapped those around it. Haha. It's worked so far...I think the stuff on those shelves has become out of sight, out of mind for DD. But I also recommend those Safety First sticky latches. I got them for DD's dresser since she would always pull everything out of it, and I didn't want to screw anything into the wood. I was thinking about getting more for the rest of our cabinets, but since we'll be moving in August, I'm wondering if they'll come off and re-stick or if I'll have to waste my money buying them all over again.
