S/O Names! Any middle name ideas?

So we've got baby's name picked out if it's a boy and we used our perfect girl name on DD, obviously.

Now we are tasked with the job of finding a girl's name.

We both agree on Liliana for a first name and we will call her Lily. Previously, we decided on Liliana Elizabeth (and we may stick to it), but I feel like 8 syllables is an awful lot so now we are trying to figure out other middle names that are one - three syllables.

We both like Rose but my only hangup is that it means with her NN it would be Lily Rose.

Any middle name ideas? Otherwise this baby is going to be Bon Qui Qui!

Elise is one of our front runners! Love it! If it were solely up to me I'd go with Kate and call her Lily-Kate!

  • What about just Lily? Or Lila? Those sound good with Elizabeth.

But remember, most people don't go by first/middle name socially, so it's not a huge deal if it has lots of syllables, so Liliana Elizabeth is just fine.

But I'm partial to Elizabeth, it's my mn, my DD's, my mothers and my grandmas =].

I'm kind of stuck on Liliana I don't know why! I love Elizabeth, too. It's also my MN and my Great Grandmother's name.

  • My girl names are going be 8 syllables in total, I don't think there's anything wrong with that!

I had a friend make a comment about how it's a mouthful and kind of a princess-y name and it got stuck in my head. Maybe I just need to tell her to shove it.

    Violet
    Riley

    Olive

But I do like Elizabeth too! Or you could use Beth or Eliza to shorten it.

My husband watches way too much teenager television. Our daughter's name is Piper, and his name suggestions so far have been Spencer and Dru for a second daughter. *sigh*

  • If Elizabeth has personal meaning to you, and you love the way it sounds with Liliana, I think you should definitely consider using it.  Like Teal said, you aren't going to say your daughter's full name often.  She will ususally go by Lily or will write Liliana - she won't write Elizabeth with it too often.

If you love the name, I think you will more likely regret not using it 5 years down the road, than think "wow, I'm glad I listened to my friend's advice about this non-princessey name."  Your friend can shove it :)

You make a VERY good point!

Agreed! I had a long name like that (sort of similar - Elizabeth Catherine) and when people would ask what my full name was they would just say how pretty it was. They never mentioned it being a mouthfull.

  • It sounds like a princess name because it flows and it's beautiful.  Maybe your friend has an inferiority complex.  I personally love names that are long like that.  Ours will be Alexandria Glorianne.. the MN is a mix of DH's and my mothers' names.

My DDs first plus middle names (yes, she has 2 middle names - a tradition in my family) is a total of 7 sylables (2+1+4) with the 4 sylable name being Elizabeth and although her first name is only 2 sylables it is a longer name (9 letters).

So I don't think your choice of Liliana Elizabeth is too much at all!  I think it is very pretty and elegant.  For me the test of a name with good flow is to imagine it being announced/said at important events (graduation, wedding, etc) and if it sounds good go with it!
