Or cupcakes, cookies, etc. I know some of you have posted pics in your shower posts, but I'm not on here constantly and I'm sure I've missed quite a few. I always love seeing how creative other decorators are. Plus, I'm obsessed with cake lately. It's a problem.

How DO you get wrinkles out of fondant, karacakes?? This is critical information as I was juuuuuuuust informed by the hostess that our "casual office potluck get-together at my house" is ACTUALLY an "un-shower" for me and one of my coworkers due in May (we both declined shower offers out of a hatred for shower games, fussiness, and being the center of attention). Since it's supposed to be a potluck anyway I think I might offer to do the cake again. I'll do the flavors of the other honoree's choice --- I just want a crack at getting that fondant right!!
All these cakes are awesome!!!
My dad called me "peapod" and he passed away about a year and a half ago so my sister and bff who threw the shower made a nod to my daddy and everything was peapods. I cried. So cute!
@pepperedmoth, you start smoothing fondant at the top and work your way down the sides. Honestly, they make it look so easy on TV, but it's hard! Go slowly and smooth all around and, if you have wrinkles when you get to the bottom, try to get down to just one or two and then strategically place your decor to cover them! I still end up with frequent wrinkles and have become an expert at covering them!
I've attached some examples of my imperfect work. Every one of these had a wrinkle somewhere, but in the end, I'm the only one who knew! Some I covered with large decor (Mickey and Dora cakes), some I made something extra to cover the imperfections (extra blocks on the back of the baby cake), etc. Strategic decor is key!!

Here's my Lorax cake from me Seuss themed shower - perfect for a 1st grade teacher/kid at heart!!
The picture is awesome and it still doesn't do it justice!
The lorax is my favorite Dr. Seuss story - has been long before the movie came out! I love that he's holding a lil babay...it's more than perfect!
If this post is still alive saturday i'll show you that one, which will be over the top i'm sure since my sister ordered it.

Here's ours, just an Albertson's cake but it was REALLY good, and the baby shoes are plastic and have places to write his name/birthday/weight/length!
Eta- ugh pic didn't upload. But trust me, they were adorable and delicious.
