Asking for some prayers. My little guy is 3 weeks tomorrow but having a rough few weeks. He threw up blood off & on first week & has been having terrible stomach issues. Since then. I've changed my diet, tried formula, tried block feeding, tried everything. He sobs & screams until he passes out from exhaustion. He sweats & struggles to breath. My heart breaks I'm not sure what to do for him. If anyone has advice in open to it. We've been to the dr she thinks it's a dairy allergy & I've eliminated dairy but not seeing a difference I know it can take awhile but I can not keep listening I him cry (not going to hurt him or shake him but because I just hold him & sob because he is hurting so bad, it breaks my heat)

It might be worth giving up soy too, including all hidden dairty and soy since he sounds extremely sensitive. It takes 1-2 weeks for the proteins to leave your system and another 1-2 weeks to leave his system. You can look into nutramigen or allimentum ( I think those are the allergen free names) formulas if you want to speed it up and are not against formula, they are pretty expensive though. You can check out the mspi check ins on the breast feeding board as well. If you plan to eliminate them from your diet, it can be done but those first few weeks are hard while you learn what you can eat.
FWIW, I did this with dd1, never tried formula just BF, so feel free to page me IF you have any questions. I know how much I struggled at first so I'm more than willing to help if I can. Big hugs to you!!!
ETA: I also think it lead to my PPD, so keep your own emotions in mind as well and seek help for yourself if needed.
Have you taken him to see a pedi? I think you should discuss these issues with the doctor. Is his belly really hard? I think you need to talk to a medical professional to rule out anything serious. Good luck and update us with hopefully good news soon!!!

I agree with wedbliss5 's suggestion, ask the ped about a hypoallergenic formula like nutrimigen. If he's allergic to something you're eating, it could take weeks to sort out, and it sounds like he's been through enough. That formula is very expensive, but often you can get health insurance to help.
I'm sorry. . I hope things get better. Just wanted to say your nit alone. Lots of tears were shed when baby was on fifth feeding in 4 hours during growth spurt, stay strong and I hope u get some answers!
Thanks for all the thoughts & payers as well as advice. We've been to pedi. She gave me a list of ingredients to look for. That was 2.5 weeks ago (after he was throwing up blood). So far no difference. I'm wondering if we could out him on that formula for another week or so & I can pump & dump this stuff until it's out if my system. I like breastfeeding but not sure I can hear him scream any more.

Lurker, but I'd go back to the pedi and if he/she doesn't have great ideas I'd want to see a gastroenterologist. The constant screaming and blood needs medical help.
Thinking of you! I can only imagine how heart-wrenching it is to listen to your baby cry and not know what to do. Prayers that you find an answer soon!

It sounds very similar to what my friends baby was doing. I would definitely look into seeing a gastroenterologist if you ped doesn't have any other ideas.
My third LO has a dairy allergy. He would scream and arch his back after every feeding. I eliminated dairy and I saw relief with in a couple of days from him but not full improvement for 5-6 weeks. Once dairy was out of our systems, he was like a different baby!
I agree with wedbliss on maybe taking out soy as well. Make sure you you are getting hidden dairy as well.
Pyloric stenosis? My 10 yr old had it. Just a thought. Hugs for u
I've never heard of this. I'll check into it. I'm thinking it's about time to see a specialist. The pedi did lots of tests on him they all came back ok. I did formula last night & he did pretty good only one episode. I hope we get the breastfeeding milk situation settled soon. Thank for everything ladies!!!!
