Trying to Get Pregnant

Intro and Question about LP

I've been lurking long enough!  I've read the Newbie blog post, and I've been posting in the Waiting to O and 2WW threads.  I like booze, advil, and sushi, and frequently enjoy all three during the 2WW.  I'm 28, my DH is 31, and we have a DD who is 14 months.   This was our first month actually TTC, but I've been temping for a couple of months.  I hope to get to know you all, enjoy some healthy snark, and figure out where I can get some magic ute-viewing glasses.

Now for the actual question.  With our first DD, I went off the pill November 2011.  I didn't temp for the first two months, mainly because I didn't know any better.  In Feb. 2012, I started temping, and I got pregnant.  Point being, I have no clue what was actually going on with my body.  Fast-forward to my six week after delivery check-up, and I had the Depo shot (December 2012).  I have not been on birth control since.  I started temping to figure out what was going on in December of 2013 since we were talking about TTC.  That month I had spotting at 9 dpo and full period at 10 dpo.  This month, we actively tried to conceive.  I had spotting at 8dpo and full cycle day 1 at 9 dpo.  My cycle length was 28 days.  Goes to show you that lovely 28 days doesn't mean squat.

Question:  I know we all can have short LP's every now and then.  Should I be concerned about two in a row?  If it is a concern or if it happens again next month, should we still wait a full year before talking to my OB about the problem?

Here's my chart if anyone is interested.

Thanks!

Re: Intro and Question about LP

  • Welcome...

I'd give it another cycle or two to be sure that it's not just a fluke...I think it is a little too early to detect a pattern of short LPs. Waiting cycles out is easier said than done, though...

Your first luteal phase as 10 day.  Spotting doesn't count.  Ten or more days is normal.

Your second was 9 days.  I'd wait a few more cycles before being up in arms about a short luteal phase.

    Welcome!
    The bump ate my post.

Either way, my first LP was 9 days.  My second LP was 8 days. I haven't had a normal one yet.

Either way, we aren't trying this month due to other issues.  So, I'll just chart this month and see which way it plays out.  If I have 3 short LPs, I'll talk to my OB.

    Thanks everyone.
