Trying to Get Pregnant

The receptionist at my Dr's office has bad math skills,

I called to schedule my first appointment.  She said the doctor likes to schedule the first appt between 7-8 weeks.  I said ok, my LMP was 11/19.  She suggested I go in on Jan 2nd at 1:40pm.  I asked if I could make it the following week at a later time, like after 3pm, bc of work.. she basically said no bc then it would be too late.

But on 1/2 I will only be 6 weeks 2 days.  Not that I mind going in earlier, but doesn't that defeat the doctor's purpose of seeing you btwn 7-8 weeks?  Oh well no biggie..

Do you think I will be able to see a HB that early?

  • The heart starts beating right around 6 weeks.  My doctor wouldn't do an u/s until I was almost 8 weeks just to be sure.  Do you know if you're getting an u/s at your first appointment?  Many doctors only do 1 u/s at 20 weeks if nothing's wrong.  I'd call to double check so you're not disappointed.
