Sippy Cup Help

Can anyone recommend a sippy cup that's easy for their little ones to use? I swear my one year old's cannot figure out the dang sippy cup! I'm wondering if there's anyone else having this problem and what they did. Is there a certain cup that's easier to use than others? We have 4 different kinds and I tried all of them and they all seem pretty similar. My boys end up biting them more than drinking from them! UGH!

Re: Sippy Cup Help

  • We use the straw cup from Walmart. I think it's Nuk? It has a flexible straw tip so it can be closed.

But we literally bought one of every single cup Walmart had in order to find one that he liked.

  • DS hates sippy cups. They have to feed him from an open cup at daycare. I have considered trying the straw, though… Sorry I'm not more of a help :P

We tried a bunch too. We had success with the Nuby brand.

    Looks like this:

  • we use nuby sippys but DS prefers the straw cup.
  • Our LO only likes hard-topped cups.  We use the Playtex ones.  They make them small with handles, or taller without handles.  They are the only ones we've found to never leak..even though every other brand will tell you on the packaging theirs doesn't leak either.  This brand also has valves you can buy more of if they get gross or worn out.  We have several that have been through both my children and still have never leaked.
  • Put another vote out for Nuby. We aren't using them as constantly as we should, but he's understood it better than any other one. I need to offer him milk in it more often... I have been seriously lacking in that department because bottles are still so much easier.

  • I have no advice but just wanted to commiserate....we've tryed MANY different kinds and she still just treats them like chew toys and drinks out of her bottle...:-(
  • We like the Nuby and the Tommee Tippee ones.

  • Another vote for the nuby - soft tops are key for us and also NO handles - DS2 won't use anything that has handles!   He's not a pro yet, I think he's still adjusting to the faster flow (I took away the bottles 2 weeks ago) because he dribbles a lot and seems to need a lot of breaks while drinking.

  • We use the Playtex straw cup, I got it at Target. I kept giving it to DD at dinner and she used it as a toy/food masher/percussion instrument until one day she started drinking out of it. I might like to try one without handles because she will chew on them instead of eat.

  • I think our favorite straw cup is Nuby. It looks like the one that Dream posted but with the straw. We actually have the same Nuby sippy, and he just figured out how to use it.

  • The only kind dd ever liked was the take and toss. Ds likes them too. He will use the nuby though.
  • We mostly use the take & toss.  I tried the straw and the nuby before I found these.  DS had trouble figuring out to suck on the no-spill cups.  The take and toss has an easier flow.  Now he will use the nuby kind since he has figured out how to drink out of the sippy cup.

  • My kid has no problem sucking out of a sippy, but then he just spits the water down the front of his shirt.  Every. Single. Time.

    Clearly I'm no help here.

  • Regular open cup or straw here. He doesn't get the sippy and with all DS1's speech issues, I'd just rather skip it anyhow. We use the cheapy take and toss straw cups.
