How many bottles do you need?

I don't know if it matters whether you are FF or BF but I PLAN in BF unless it just doesn't work out.

I am also going to be a SAHM so the only time I will really probably use a bottle is for H or if she is left with in laws or the day or night.

I found a great deal on groupon for 4 oz playtex drop ins (package of 3). I was thinking 6 of each size (4 oz and 8-10 oz.) Or is that amount even necessary. Please help!

  • That sounds like an awful lot if you're going to be a SAHM. We EBF. DD was in daycare for a month while I did trainings and only needed 3 a day. Also, we went trough 8 types of bottles (8!!) before we found one that she would take, so you may be safer trying singles before buying a huge pack...

I know you meant to post on the May 14 board, but I thought I'd also mention that BF babies rarely eat more than 5 oz at a time (even now that my DD is 9 months old this Friday). If BF is your plan, I'd skip purchasing the larger size bottles. Agree with PP that BF babies are picky regarding bottles, so I wouldn't buy large packs until you know she'll take it. Also, my BF babies did like the Playtex nursers. GL with the rest of your pregnancy!

  • Same here. R didn't take more than 5 usually. But also he only would take Avent natural nipple bottles in the beginning. Then one day he decided he hated them and now he loves the medela bottles which is great because I pump right into them. No need for different bottles. Dr browns also fit on a medela pump.
  • Thanks ladies. I just ordered the 3 pack of 4 oz play text because they were for the same price as 1 in the stored. I figured I would just go for it. I am not buying any more bottles until I know whether or not she is going to like it
