January 2014 Moms

I think I am officially entitled to vent this...

I am fucking done.

Update: After continuous contractions since early Friday morning, my labor has stalled to about 3-4 contractions an hour. The only bit of good news, LO is now extremely low in my pelvis.

Here is what I've been up to since Friday....Friday hospital visit because contractions were coming 5-7 minutes apart and intense...They determined I was not yet in active labor and sent me home. Friday night-contractions were about 6-10 minutes apart, I was up all night.

Saturday: Lost my MP and had bleeding and leaking fluid during contractions which were about 6-9 minutes apart. Again, went into the hospital they determined that leaking fluid was urine and the bleeding had turned brown so NBD. Also it was determined that I was severely constipated and was sent home with laxatives. Saturday night: Horrible contractions coming every 6-9 minutes that lasted all. fucking. night. Another night without any sleep.

Sunday: I finally was able to take several BMs. Contractions again were coming every 7-12 minutes and intense.

Sunday Afternoon: In-laws arrived. As soon as they walked into the door I started having contractions every 5-6 minutes. What does everyone decide to do? Open all the effing gifts that they brought with them. Here I am, laying on my couch, clenching my teeth through contractions while I am being handed Christmas presents to unwrap...BTW MIL, thank you very much for the Texas dish cloths...I know you really want us to move back to Texas...but seriously???

Contractions stopped after about an hour and half of having them so close together. I think DS realized what he was about to born into backed the fuck back in. The only silver lining is that last night I finally was able to sleep through the night without waking up every couple of minutes with contractions.

Here are some of my favorite quotes so far from my MIL: Usually, I do not let shit like this get to me, but I am already on my last nerve and they haven't even been here 24 hours yet...

-"Wow, you look even bigger in person that you do on skype"
-"That looks pretty uncomfortable" (said during the middle of a contraction)
-"I brought newborn and premie size clothes for DS, but looking at you he will not be fitting into those so I am giving them to DD for her baby doll"
-"He is going to be a 10 pounder like his father and uncles"
-"I told you (insert last name) babies are 10 month babies"
-"I told you (insert last name) babies like to take their sweet time"

This morning I woke up and cooked pancakes for myself and DD. I did not save any for them and I do not feel bad about this at fucking all...

Really starting to question my decision for a VBAC now...

  • Awe that sounds like a super long ordeal especially with ILs around. So sorry. I like that you left them no pancakes. They should be up and serving you!
  • Loading the player...
  • Man, I am so sorry you are going through this. Sounds like hell, and I would be throat punching my in laws. Seriously. Vent away. How long will this continue before you have to look at a repeat CS? Baby needs to get his act together and come the f out now!

  • That is an eternity, especially if the contractions continue! I wish there was some magic labor inducing thing you could do. Hugs to you!

  • You have my deepest sympathy. Seriously. There is nothing good about days-long labor and obnoxious sideline commentaries. I couldn't handle anyone being in my business during labor, just DH. If they need to hush up, let them watch DD and go lay in bed so you can enjoy your misery in peace!

  • Good for you with those pancakes. I hope you do that every meal. I also hope you don't bite your tongue when MIL says asinine things like that again.

  • I'm with @redsaffron on this. Ctx can make you do anything, a throat punch is definitely in that realm. Plus, it would shut her up for awhile! ;)

I hope your labor starts up soon and progresses this time! Sending you good labor vibes!

  • Yes you are totally entitled to vent! Contractions that close together for days has to be so miserable! And then to add house guests on top of that!

Hope your labor progresses soon and quickly! But if it doesn't, vent here all you need!

  • Oh my gosh and I thought two days of back and forth was bad!!! Hope things either calm down so u can get to sleep or get jump started!!!!!! You gonna get an epidural when u go in for real so u can at least get a little rest?

  • that was honestly my biggest fear in choosing a vbac (i opted for the csection). I hope that this all comes to and end for you very very soon and that in the end you are able to have the vbac you hoped for.

  • Your MIL sounds like a piece of work. I'd totally have to throat punch. Hope things get better and loud DS decides to come out soon.

  • I'm sorry. I wish I could send you some magical labor dust that could move things along for you.

As for your IL's... throat punching is too good for them. I wouldn't leave them any pancakes either.

  • Stick with it lady!! If my in laws were here I would be having this baby from cell block A. I'm after a VBAC too- 41w2d. I'm jealous of your painful contractions:) we can do this!!!!!!
  • I couldn't imagine having my ILs up in my house while in labour.

My own parents came over to watch DS1 when my water broke, and I laboured at home another 24 hours before I had to go into the hospital for antibiotics and pitocin because I hadn't progressed passed 1cm.  I ended up with my VBAC for DS2 and the recovery was so much better.  I was up and walking within a couple hours of having him and was home that night (7 hours later).  I was back to full strength the next day which made life easier with a newborn and 3 year old.

  • I'm sorry that you are going through all of this. The contractions are frustrating enough without adding the in-laws to it. I'd eat all of the pancakes too.
