So my baby has had the stomach bug since she's come back home with us on Wednesday. I brought her in Friday to er because if no pee in diapers and no tears. We stayed the night and left Saturday evening.
I had to bring her in tonight again for no pee all day and major vomiting. They wanted to start an iv fur fluids.
They stuck my kid 6 times. I'm not even joking y'all! 6 times!!!
I finally told them to let me try, after I was so livid and told them something for not giving her a break in between stickings.
Just a background on me btw, I'm a paramedic, or used to be, so I'm used to starting iv's in the back of moving vehicles.
So I got her calmed down and they let me try. First stick got it in. The nurses then start saying cocky things to me and being rude. Now I'm not trying to dis nurses, and I don't know how they act towards medics everywhere else, but over here 9 out of 10 are jerks to us and have a holier than thou attitude.
Well after multiple nights running on like 3 hours of sleep tops, and everything else going on I let lose.
I do sorta feel bad, but not really.
Anyway, no point to this, just frustrated and ready for some good things to head my way! I can't take it and am about to break.
I know I have tons to be thankful for, but it's hard to think of those things with so much bad. Ugh!
Sorry for being a Debbie downer and an attention whore.
I just need to vent a little:
Also sorry that this is all over the place. I'm just exauhsted and frustrated and sad and just want everyone to be healthy!

Kudos to you being able to get an IV started on your own kid. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to do that.
The nurses may have had a pride issue. They need to chill. Doesn't matter who does it as long as it gets done. I want to be a nurse & have a ton of respect for EMT/Paramedics. I don't understand the nurses' contempt for that & your experiences. You are all on the same team man.

When I was pregnant with DS I was in the hospital for kidney stones. At one point the second tech couldn't get a vein when they were trying to draw blood. She left to get a third person when I wouldn't let her stick me anymore. By the time they got back, my mom had the two vials needed. FYI- my mom was a cat scan/ radiologist tech.
There is too much going on and I'm so overwhelmed. I want to start nursing school, and I've always told myself that if you can't even fake being nice to everyone, then you need to just quit. Once you stop having fun that's it.
But yes, thanks for the support.
