Success after IF

I have my freezer back

I used up the last of my frozen breastmilk yesterday.  As a SAHM, I never had a large stash; just a small amount for emergency. I was pumping daily in the morning when M was around 9-11m old so I could keep up my supply and build up a stash in case M had trouble transitioning to WCM.  Well, he did well with the transition so the frozen BM was never used.

I finally cleaned all of it out - many of the milk was already 4+ months old so I dumped it out (only about 20oz worth). A few remaining bags I gave to M in his sippy, but at this point, he prefers the taste of WCM over frozen BM (though he still nurses 2x/d).  I felt sad about this and I mourned for 2-3 days, as it felt like the end of an era.  On the flip side, it is nice to finally free up a whole shelf in the freezer!

This exactly! Makes me think of the quote "whoever said there's no need to cry over spilt milk obviously never pumped 6oz then accidentally spilled it".
This happened to me once and I was a blubbering mess ha!
But on the upside, yay for freezer space

  • God I can't even imagine starting to pump all over again and having to do it every night before I could pass out. I wouldn't change it for the world but damn what a job! I think this time around since we moved I'll have to get a small lil freezer for my stash. Our fridge and freezer is too tiny!
