WWYD- leaving LO for 2 nights

I have the chance to get my coaching license in March, but I would have to travel about 2 hours away for a course which spans Friday to Sunday.  DD will just turn 1 at the beginning of March and she will still be nursing.  I could force DH and her to come with me, but they would end up sitting at the hotel all day Friday-Sunday while I go to class, which sounds pretty boring.  And the course is not in a fun town where they could go out and find stuff to do so they will be really bored for three days.  DD will take a bottle, but she does not like it.  DH is willing to come, but understandably, her prefers to stay home.  WWYD?  I have never spent a night away from DD and I really don't want to. because she still wakes up for MOTN feedings.  (Not going to lie, however, the thought of 8 consecutive hours of sleep is enticing...).

Re: WWYD- leaving LO for 2 nights

  • At a year I think I would go. That being said we left ours for a week to go on vacation at 6 months!

  • I would definitely go. Your DH and DD will be just fine!

  • I would go, but I would give DH the final decision. He and lo can come or stay, but that way I'm not meeting the decision. If he chooses to come them he can be bored at the hotel. If he chooses to stay, it's his call and he'll be getting up in the night with lo.

    Have fun at the classes!

  • I agree with TamaraR4. I'd leave it up to DH.

BFing never worked out for me, but honestly, I was fine leaving the girls for a weekend seminar. I think with DD1 the first time was when she was almost a year old, but that was a whole week, actually. With DD2 it was a weekend when she was 3 months old.

    I would totally do it.

BFP1: DD1 born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
    BFP2: 3/18/12, blighted ovum, natural m/c @ 7w4d
BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w4d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence

  • I would go but I would bring DD along. That's just me though; I'm not ready to leave her for more than a couple hours yet.
  • I went away a few weeks ago when DS was 11.5 months. I had to go for an overnight conference to New Orleans. I left lots of pumped milk and a smile. :) They were just fine without me, although I missed them incredibly. I just overestimated the amount of milk that would be needed without me.

  • Oh, I should add that I pumped while I was traveling and just dumped it. I had to because I was flying and just had a carry-on. It was fine, though-- I pumped a few times a day. My DS is down to nursing 3 times a day, though. He sleeps through the night.
