Something doesn't add up

Hey ladies, Here's some background information: I did a femara cycle this last month and I took 5 mg on CD 1-10. On CD 11 I had a 13mm follicle and my lining was 2mm. So I came back CD14 and my follicle was 16mm and lining was still 2mm. My lining was really thin, but my RE triggered anyway. She had me get blood drawn for an E2 test and that came back at 25 pg/ml. So she has me taking 2mg estradiol 3x a day and had me add progesterone suppositories today. I continue the estrogen and progesterone until AF or Feb. 7. I'm concerned that my lining was too thin and my E2 numbers were too low to trigger in hind sight. I'm worried that this cycle has now turned into a waste of time, money and hormones. Do you think that my concerns are valid, or should I close my google browser?

  • I don't know a whole lot, or much of anything about medicated cycles, but from the little I do know I would say your concerns are definitely valid.

  • Yeah, I don't think that estrogen after trigger would help your lining.  I am surprised they didn't cancel your cycle.

Weren't you also on Femera for 10 days?  That seems long to me, but I could be wrong.

And your E2 was pretty low for a "mature follicle".

  • @nariadreaming to Telly you the truth I am kind of surprised too. Everything happened so wham bam quick I didn't even question it until after I left with a sore butt cheek.

  • @bankerBSN all very valid points. I didn't respond to 5 days at 5mg so she went with 10 days the next cycle I was able to do. Even at 10 days I only had one follicle respond.

Interesting.  Usually with Femera lining is not such an issue.  I am also pretty sure that you would want an E2 of atleast 200 with a mature follicle, but I could be wrong.

What has your RE said about the next step?  Injects?

  • We haven't talked about next steps yet but when I call her for my cd3 u/s I am going to insist. I only have fertility coverage until May (changing insurance plans) and I don't think femara is the right fit for me based on these last 2 cycles. Cycle 1 thin lining, no follies, then out of no where a 4 cm cyst makes my right ovary it's new home. Then cycle two I have this.

  • @LindsRockies I agree completely femara isn't probably going to do much for me at this point

I am so sorry you are going through this Terra.  I had little if no response to oral stims but had amazing results with injects.  I also had way less side effects with the injectables.  I hope that you find a solution.

  • I'm just curious what should your lining be? I'm still learning.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • @pintobean39 I was told a good lining will be around 8...

  • Thank you @BankerBSN! I hope I can find something that works better for me too! As of now it looks like my insurance will pick up most of the injections under my prescription plan. How do I bring this up to her?

  • @whocanitbenow that sounds about right. I go to her because my health insurance is through that hospital and includes infertility. I'm going to give her a second chance but if she keeps making those calls, i may have to shop around out of network and pay the extra.
