Taking antibotics and TTC

So I have this horrible cough that I have had for almost 2 weeks and several people have told me that I should get antibiotics and it will go away.

The question is that we are currently TTC and I won't know the results of that on the 26th the day of my Dr's appt. Should I wait to find out if this months TTC worked to make a Dr's appt or should I take the antiboitics and if I am PG it will be in the very early stages.

Sorry for the dumb question but just needed to ask.

Re: Taking antibotics and TTC

  • I was on antibiotics right before I found out I was pregnant with DS.  Turned out what I was on was safe. I would tell your doc that you are trying and that there is a chance you might be pg so that they can prescribe something safe for you, if they do prescribe you something.

  • I got strep at the end of my first trimester and took amoxicillan, doc said it was fine.
  • Yeah, let the doc know because some meds are safe during pg and some aren't.  Also, if you're on antibiotics and not pg they usually recommend using a back up birth control method--I don't know if this is because what they give is sometimes not safe or what.  ASK, ASK, ASK :)
