Babbling

My LO turned 8 months last week, and she is still not babbling. She does a lot of "talking", but she only makes vowel sounds. None of the repeated consonant sounds that are expected around 6 months. Is anyone else having this issue? Have you talked to your doctor or a speech/language therapist about it? I mentioned it to an SLP friend who said it didn't seem that concerning, but I'm really starting to worry. Her hearing seems totally fine, and her receptive communication seems good, too. She's learned the sign for "more" to use at mealtimes, so she obviously gets communicating.

I think it's a 9 month milestone, so you've still got time. I've heard of a lot of babies start doing it overnight.

c doesn't talk yet, no discernible sounds at all just shrieks. However she is almost walking so I think they work on one thing at a time unfortunately by baby wants to do the physical things first and none of the mental. If you get an answer from your ped please update because I am slightly worried about this.

Eta she is also 8 months

This is as well. Physical growth with not as much mental growth.

S was doing the exact same thing until like 2 weeks ago (minus the walking, we're still working on crawling here). Then she came home from school one afternoon and was saying "bababababa" over and over and over again. Then it changed to dadadadada. And now we're back to shrieks unless she's in the best mood ever...

My lo started babbling and then stopped, it is a little worrisome but he is starting to crawl and so I am thinking it might be taking his focus.

Weird question...all you non babblers. Does anyone have teeth. I always assumed that she wasn't babbling because she had no teeth and therefore didn't pay much attention to her mouth.

No babbling here at 8 months either. DD1 was the same and I remember being worried but then the words started pouring out around 11-12 months. By 18 months she literally had hundreds of words and was combining them so I don't think it is indicative of a language delay down the road.

No babbling here yet either. He does the occasional mmmaaaaa and ba, but no repeating or stringing them together.

So does Y count as a consanant....if so we have our first babble. (Yay she's not stupid)! She now crawls around the house saying

Ya ya ya ya

Which doesn't bode well for her dating years.
