Try Googling your own name, if you haven't already. If you're on Pinterest, anything you've pinned (as well as your profile picture) will come up as being attached to your name on Google images. Because of that, I've taken my last name off of my account. It kind of creeped me out!

I don't do vanity Google searches for fun - someone told me about it. :-)

I changed my Pinterest to match my Bump ID, just because I'm searching for a new job. I'd hate to get disqualified from a position because a potential employer saw all my wine pins and thought me an alky!

I guess I'm surprised you guys didn't know this. With all the news about people being fired because of Facebook pictures or tragedies like the Craigslist killer, people need to be careful about what you post on the internet! Duh.

What surprised me about Shank's situation is that I really don't feel like she overshared her info. It's not like she gave us her address and phone number. This person staight up stalked her.

All of my settings on FB and Instagram are private. I just didn't think my name would be linked to random images of things that I've repinned on Pinterest. Since then I periodically check my name on Google to see if I missed anything - hence the reason for this PSA.

I do agree - neither Shank, nor anyone else on this board, seem to share enough personal info to allow themselves to be "found," so that is scary indeed.
