Pregnant and no insurance help?

I just recently found out I am pregnant and we do not have health insurance and we do not qualify for medicaid because we have too many assets( they said cause we have 2 vehicles) so I just wanted to see if anybody knew of any resources that could help me or anything or anyone that could give advise on what to do? Any advise or suggestions on what I could do would be really great and I don't care if I have to pay I just need prenatal care. Thanks!

    You might try to contact a midwife?  Sometimes you can get all of your appointments and birth at a center for a flat price.  I know they run around $4200-$4800, but they also will work with you sometimes.   Good Luck :)

    It looks like I just might be in the same boat here.  Does anyone know of anything else?  They're not sure whether to consider me high risk, so I'm 6 weeks and already require an ultrasound.  That's $250 out of pocket.  Florida Hospital will help with the birthing costs, but what about prenatal care?  We can't afford to pay for all of it.

    I am a Compliance Specialist for Medicare/Medicaid. In Florida, if you don't qualify for full coverage due to having too much in assets, depending on your income, you should qualify for the Medically Needy program. The Medically Needy program helps families or pregnant women who would qualify for Medicaid except for having income and/or assets that are too high. Gross income is used to determine the share of cost. Your share of cost may be estimated or actual. I would reach out to your local DCF and see if they can provide you any additional assistance. They are pretty good at following up with pregnant women. I hope this helps!! Good luck! :)

    I technically own a house and 2 cars and got assistance with Medicaid. You might want to check into that again. They don't usually leave a pregnant woman in the dust completely. Agreed with Miharu. Good luck!

    Medicaid isn't as helpful as people really think they basically told me to sell my vehicle and that's just not possible when you are a sahm and your husband works. so I just paid cash for my first couple of appointments and then my insurance through my husbands work kicked in on jan. 1st. Maybe I just had someone that really didn't want to be bother cause he also laughed when he told us to sell a vehicle, I think if you have to be rude to people maybe you shouldn't even be working there.
