Our lovely health insurance company sent us a letter last week letting us know that they will no longer cover our prescription for Prevacid starting in January which our DD takes for her reflux. I went to Walgreens last night to get a refill and asked how much it will cost once insurance doesn't cover it anymore and they told me $218 - yikes! I think her reflux has greatly diminished since starting solids, so I'm really hoping we can successfully wean her off the medication this month.
Re: Prevacid cost $218!
My friend just found this out also. I would have freaked out. I am glad DS outgrew his reflux about a month ago.
I agree - the more letters, the more likely it will be covered.
BTW: Love the monkey PJs. We got 2 pairs for DD - 12 mo and 18 mo - because we loved them so much.
That really sucks
My DD was on Prevacid for several months and it was a huge help to her. I'm assuming you're already taking advantage of the Beyond the Burn program? If not, be sure to sign up; it will give you $25 off your script each month.

It does take about a month to get the card, but it was a big help for us. I guess it's not a lot compared to $218, but every little bit helps, right?
I hope I don't get this letter!!! Prevacid is the ONLY thing that has helped her, we tried Zantac and Axid first.
Definitely file an appeal with the insurance.
