  • Oh my god he's getting so big!!!

My niece was a bigger baby and also walked later and never crawled. Sometimes it's hard for them to move the extra weight. THat being said, my LO is smaller - and I think she too has challenges for being tiny. There's no easy solution!

  • You're so sweet for thinking of us!

The doctor said that although he is a little bit slower to hit some of the milestones, she thinks he is getting close. She showed me a few physical things that I can practice with him to encourage him to crawl (he army crawls now) and pull up/become more stable. She also said because he's a chunkier baby, he might have a harder time with some of the physical stuff. (Which I kind of get but kind of think is bullshit. Whatever!)

In terms of the social stuff, he started waving at himself in the mirror when we were at the office. No joke, he has never done it before. So she pointed that out and said she bet I would be surprised that soon he would be doing a lot more. I guess I will just continue to practice with him and monitor.

In other news, she said he should start to eat more solids and potentially nurse less... Boo!  She also said that his MOTN nursing session was probably more out of habit than anything, and that I should stop nursing him to sleep, so last night we did our first sleep training. :(

So I am still keeping an eye in it, but hopefully everything is fine! Here is our 21.5 pounder at the doc yesterday:

Hahahahaha, pinot, his body type looks EXACTLY like James... who is 24 lbs and 30 inches... and also not crawling.. .so I actually think there might be some truth to the idea that his body type is making it hard.  I mean, when you think about upper body strength required to crawl, they're pulling a lot of weight behind them!  He is so adorable and looks so healthy and squeezable!!

  • ahhh I just want to eat him up!!!

A doesn't wake up that often to eat MOTN but when she is sick and/or teething she does it to soothe and our pedi said the same thing. Its so hard to let her be upset when I know she just wants to be soothed

  • Sweet baby boy! Of course he waves at the doctor. I swear these kids just like to mess with us. I took Carter in a couple weeks ago for a cough and the entire doctor visit (30 min.) not one cough.

hahaha same thing just happened to us! I took A in on Monday because she had a bad cough and faucet nose for over 2 weeks and I am scared to death of RSV. At the dr, no runny nose and not one cough, I think our pedi legit thought I was crazy - the second we got home, Niagara falls out of her nose and she has thrown up twice this week from coughing so hard.

I know they are doing it on purpose....

He is so cute Pinot!  I agree with JSS - body type has a lot to do with it and only makes sense.  Jackson has a huge head (97th %) so it's not surprising that he may not have the same strength to achieve the physical milestones at the rate that some other babies do.  I know one mom whose daughter had a floppy head for a loooooong time and she was so scared but it turned out that she just didn't have the proper body proportions to lift her big head up at the rate that other babies were her age.  So I do think there's something to that.  Glad everything went well and congrats on waving!

. I used to have a little boy at work who's head size was off the charts. When he finally started crawling half the time he would drag his head on the floor enough to get rug burn on his forehead. He was so damn cute and grew up to be a a perfectly healthy bright little boy.... He must have just had big brains :)

  • Your son is adorable, Pinot. Seriously!

I do think each baby works on something differently than the next, some babies (which perhaps translates into adulthood) are more focused on one thing at a time so they -know- they are doing it right and make little mistakes. Connor crawled early, but I honestly believe he wasn't ready because he has fallen so much (and that off the charts sized head of his hits the ground like a brick) I was worried I needed a helmet.

Also, I want to see more videos of him, even if it is throwing a fit ;)
