17 Weeks - Dry Splotches on Skin?!

So today I noticed that I have a few dry spots on the back of my shoulder and on my collar bone...does anyone else have this?  I thought I was just itching because of the skin stretching theory but I don't think my neck and shoulders are gaining weight and stretching so I'm just wondering if this is pregnancy related?  It has also been an extremely cold winter in NYC but I swear I slather shea butter on everyday...the spots are rough to the touch, kind of what I would expect psoriasis to feel like...please weigh in.  My next appointment is on Thursday, I was going to wait and just ask about it then but as I find more I get more concerned...

  • Yes!!! I have a weird red spot on my wrist. It's definitely dry skin. I've been applying lotion pretty liberally but it's still there. And my back gets itchy because it's so dry. Bleh.

  • Have you ever had eczema? I had it as an infant, during puberty, and with both pregnancies. Do your best not to scratch. I also slather the patches in aquaphor which helps.
  • Try Cetaphil! You can get it at target. I get these super rough patches on my legs when it is really dry and it has gotten worse since I got pregnant. Regular moisturizer doesn't seem to help much, but a few days of cetaphil clears it right up! I just bought some today bc it's really bad again.

  • I've got them on my arms and hands too, and it's definitely new with the pregnancy!

  • I broke or in itchy red spots on my chest and back. I was so mag when the o.b. Wouldn't see me. Luckily my regular doc is a women's and gyno doc and she knew just the trick. The cetaphil moisturizing cream is the best. Lather it on after the shower before you du off and just pat dry. If it's itchy spots you can also put hydrocortisone or baby cream with zinc oxide on the spots to clear them up quick.
  • I have them on my arms and legs. I wouldn't worry, if you are worried you can mention it to you dr at your next appointment just to ease your mind. Lotion is your best friend!

  • Okay thanks All for your help, I actually use Cetaphil face wash and moisturizer so I will use that on these dry patches as well (I was using baby oil which sort of just sits on the top of the skin vs a good moisturizer like Cetaphil or Aquaphor which I used on my tattoos to heal, don't know why I didn't think of that myself!) ...thanks again!
