Just wondering if other ladies are buying maternity swimsuits this summer? This is my first time being far along in the summer (other 2 were born Feb & Mar). I've seen some cute ones in stores already but they are $$$!
I bought one used for my last pregnancy - DD was born in mid-August - and would recommend that route... chances are, they've hardly been worn! We went to the Y a lot so it was a good investment.
I have two older sons that were both born in Sept., so I already have 3 suits. If you actually plan to swim in the suit, be careful buying a top that is too blousy. I have one that is not fitted at the bottom and when in the water if floats up and my big old belly is completely visible.
Good suggestion, jmarshall! Our family swims at the Y a lot, too, so I will probably try to buy one as inexpensive as I can. I did swim once in a hotel pool when pregnant in Dec last time and wore my regular two piece. My belly was sure hanging out, but we were the only ones there. I'm sure to be seen more this summer, so I guess I'll need a more modest suit!
I just wore my bikini with a tank top over top when I was pregnant with my son because I couldn't justify spending that much on something I would only wear a few times.
Ugh. I hadn't even thought about this! I didn't need one last time since DS was born in March, but I definitely will this time. We spend the entirety of May-September at the pool since we live in Texas and it gets HOT.
Am I the only one who wore a bikini still? Is it really a taboo thing? :-S No perfect body here or anything (especially while pregnant!), but it just didn't bother me. I plan on the same thing this time around.
I lucked out with my last pregnancy buying one on clearance and only spent $20, originally $60. I never wore it because I wasn't far enough to have a true bump in the summer of my last pregnancy. Glad I never got I rid of it.
Ugh. I guess I'll have to. I'm going on a vacation with my whole family in late June, and it definitely won't be a "wear a bikini and let your giant belly stick out" situation. Dang.

I totally will when we're swimming at the lake near our house. But my friends parents have a pool, and they're really, really conservative. And my parents are taking us all on a family vacation in June, and they're also really conservative. So in order to keep the peace/not get dirty looks, I'm going to have to get a maternity tankini.
Honestly, I will probably just wear a sports bra with a tank top and shorts to go swimming. We don't swim that much and I'm really cheap, so I don't think I will want to spend the money on a maternity swimsuit that may only get worn a few times this summer.

I did with DS and probably will this time, too. At most, I may put a tank top over my suit, but that's it. I don't like one-pieces and don't want a tankini that just floats up and exposes my stomach anyway.

I am considering doing this. I usually wear a one-piece because I'm not thrilled with my stomach (I was really heavy, lost a bunch of weight a few years ago and never got over my stomach not looking "right"). But I was figuring that being 7-8 months pregnant would be a great excuse to wear a bikini judgement-free. Now I'm curious if this is "too taboo" also.
I will probably just wait and see how I feel and look at that point. My parents have an in-ground pool and we are there every weekend for pool parties, cook outs, sand volleyball, etc.. I would like to think I could just walk around in my bikini without judgement, but I've got 3 younger (and VERY sarcastic) brothers that I'm sure would love to poke fun at me! >:P
I think I am going to but I am going to buy from Old Navy or Target and keep it cheap!
Last time around I got a great deal on a tankini by Liz Lange for Target - it was super cute and flattering!
Which one did you get? I am debating between a couple?
It was last season so I'm not sure if it is still there -- I bought it last October before a girls spa weekend. It is black, standard tank top with side rusching, and a skirted bottom (which normally I wouldn't have picked out, but we stopped at Target en route to the spa when I discovered I had forgotten a tankini BOTTOM, and grabbed this one, and it actually ended up being pretty cute).

So do they have maternity suits in the store?? All the ones I look at online say not sold in stores! That would be great so I can use cash .
They did last October -- suits should start flowing to stores right now, February is our big month for that.
I have a tankini top that i wore when I was 85 lbs heavier...I'm hoping that'll do the trick. If not, I'm going to head to Target or Old Navy and see what they have. I'm going to hold off for a while b/c I have no clue how big my bbs are going to get by June....worse comes worst, I'll get a plus sized tankini top from Wal-Mart.

I am at the pool 3-5x a week from June to August (aka when school's out). I think I'll Ty and find two cheapo suits and alternate between them. Were also doing a big family vacation this summer in Montauk, so it's not optional.
I got a tankini from Old Navy, it saw very little use since my daughter was born in May even though May is hot here. I did use it a bit post partum though since I really just wanted to validate the purchase. But I do recommend ON!
