Trying to Get Pregnant

Long-Time Lurker Coming Out!

Hi ladies,

I've been lurking without a username for several months now... but now that TTC is officially close, I would love to come join you, if you'll have me!

A little background:

I'm 25, DH is 26, married for 2 1/2 years. I had baby fever on and off during the second year. It has now been full force since a close friend had her ridiculously adorable baby last summer. :-P  We mostly were waiting because DH wasn't ready yet.

We've also been waiting due to an obnoxiously large and stubborn ovarian cyst that the doctor said MUST be removed before getting pregnant. We monitored it for an insanely long time due to false hope that it might absorb on its own, due to a screwed-up ultrasound where they thought that it had absorbed and that a new (uncannily similarly sized and shaped) one had popped up on the other side. Der der-der.  Now that it's been clear for several ultrasounds that that was a mistake, I am finally biting the bullet, as I have been in much more pain the last couple of months. Doc assures me that waiting did no additional harm. The cyst has not changed at all since we first discovered it.

Doc thinks due to ultrasound observations that it could be an endometrioma (endometriosis cyst on the ovary) - this might make sense given that a close family member struggles with this, and given my personal history. It also could be a dermoid cyst (worst case scenario in my mind as the entire ovary has to go. Doc says bad things happen when people try to get around this). Or even if it's just a simple fluid-filled cyst, the outlook is grim as it's so huge that the ovary may just be too stretched to save anything.

Wow... that turned into a long, stressed-out vent. Basically, FX that this goes well! We hope to start trying as soon as we have the doctor's okay after surgery. Even in the case of endometriosis, we would like to try on our own for a few months before seeking treatment (unless it's deemed a complete waste of time).

Can't wait to get to know you all!

  • Welcome!  I'm sorry that you are going through all of this and FX that all goes well for you.  I am currently TTA (doctor's recommendation) while waiting for an ovarian cyst to dissolve on its own, too.

@Hazel622 Aren't cysts fun? I hope yours isn't terribly painful. I had to go off BC after last pill pack for the surgery and it feels like my cyst must have doubled in size in a week. My entire pelvis is killing me. Good thing I'm getting this effer out of me!

    ETA: Words are hard.

Ugh, cysts suck so bad!  I'm glad that you will be having surgery soon to relieve your pain and start TTC.  I will be thinking about you and checking back to see how things go.
