2nd Trimester

heartburn question

Hi Ladies,

I am a first trimester gal right now.....13 weeks this coming Monday.  But I have a question for 2nd tri ladies.  If you had heartburn badly in first trimester, did it go away or still continuing.  With my boys I only had it at the end, never at the beginning.  I hate it. Thanks.

Re: heartburn question

  • Mine went away for a little bit and then came back with a vengeance. My doctor cleared me for tums and zanrac if it's really bad. Good luck! Heartburn is awful!

  • Oh, mine is still horrible. Per the doctor, I'm taking a Prevacid roughly every 18-20 hours. Or at least that's how long it takes to break through the first dose. Mine usually is so bad I start crying. Really stinks when it rears up right as I lay down for the evening.

  • I only had it at the end with my first 2 pregnancies as well and this time I've had it since the beginning.  I also bumped up to Zantac 2x/day.  My OB office said I might be able to go off of it after a few weeks so next week I might try a day w/o it.  Not sure it will work though.  I forgot my AM dose yesterday and was pretty uncomfortable (I don't get the burning, just so much pressure it makes me nauseas) by the afternoon.

  • I had pretty bad heartburn with my first the entire time-- a bowl of Cheerios could set it off. This time, it was pretty bad during my first trimester but has gotten better for the second. I can only hope it doesn't return in my third!

  • thanks ladies.
