Noisy Baby anyone?

My LO is incredibly noisy. Awake and asleep. She is especially noisy when she is waking up and stretching. Grunting, squeaking constantly. Its slightly annoying at nighttime because I wake up to it and then get nervous and check on her. Today we were leaving the hospital from my lactation appt and we were in the elevator full of people and the entire time she was making noise. It was very cute. I am sure people were thinking,  what the hell?

Anyone else have noisy babies?

Edit for clarity

  • My DS does the same thing! He grunts and sounds like a horse sometimes. Its tough not to laugh when we are tip toeing in the room so he doesn't wake.

  • Me! I could have written this post. Landon started cooing right after he was brought over to my head during the c/s and hasn't stopped since. If we pick him up from the bouncer and hold him the noises start up as well. They seem to be getting louder as he grows. That could have been my baby in the elevator! LOL I think our babies will end up being extroverted and social.

  • DD sleeps quietly but awake she grunts and squeaks constantly. With all the grunt and squeaks and arms flailing, her waking up sequence is epic. She certainly lets us all know if she is uncomfortable or mad. DH says she already has attitude and we are in for it when she can start talking.

  • Yes my kids went through those stages. Get the Spamedics white noise machine - allowed me to sleep through their grunts while room sharing.

  • DD is Grunty McGruntersen! It's usually just as she's falling asleep. DH and I are able to fall asleep despite her noises and somehow I'm able to distinguish those grunts from her waking up noises so I can her out of her bassinet before she cries. Since her nursery is our bedroom, I'm thankful we can sleep through it since she won't be moving out of our room until we move to a new house.

  • Yep! He spends most of his time grunting and (now cooing), which is better than outright crying like DD for the first few months of life! DS also has laryngomalacia which makes him squeak when he eats. It's just immature muscles around his vocal chords and he will grow out of it. However, for now he's very noisy!!!

  • Yep @xan84! They told me in the hospital since it is a stridor noise which could have meant other things. But since he doesn't turn blue and eats like a champ, it's just that laryngomalacia thing. They said it's basically that the windpipe is extra flexible and while nursing gets a little smaller causing the noise. But again he has nothing else wrong so it's just a mild form that's very noisy! A friend of mine's baby had the same thing and he's 5-6mo now and has outgrown it :)
  • I have a very noisy guy.

  • @amylou333 DD just started heavy breathing and grunting while eating this week. It's like she's voraciously eating after having nothing for days!

  • Yep! I love it. I don't have to get out of bed to check her. I can sleep thru the noises and wake up when she cries because she is hungry. DD1 was a quiet sleeper an I woke up all.the.time. to make sure she was ok because I couldn't hear her. Now If I wake up worried I just listen for a noise and go back to sleep.
