High chair question

I know, boooring...sorry. 

When do you change from a 5 pt harness to 3 pt? If your high chair has the option? DD sucks on the shoulder straps and they get beyond disgusting so I'm just wondering if I can take them off? She can't sit totally unassisted but I think the 3 pt belt should hold her in?

ETA I looked in my manual and didn't see anything about it.

    We don't use the 5 point harness here, I would think she would be Ok without it too. You could always try it one time and if she needs it then start using again.

    Connor needs the 5 point more as he gets older, since he's a climber.

    Currently I don't use any straps on her (as long as I'm not walking away from her) because she gets distracted by the tail of the straps and would rather play and chew on those than eat. So she sits on them.
    3 ectopic pregnancies (EDD's 1/30/12-tube removed, 6/2/12-methotrexate and 10/2/12-methotrexate)

    We don't use any straps, but I don't ever lean LO alone in her chair. We have the a boon flair, LO is not a climber so she has not tried to get out of it yet.

    Our DD likes to try to lean over on the side so like @TradeMama I find the 5pt harness to be much more necessary these now than before lol. At her GMoms she only has the lap belt on a booster seat and she's ok there.
