Trying to Get Pregnant

Rosacea & hormones

SO, I have rosacea, it's very mild and pretty much just looks like I have amazing blush on all the time (I am very lucky, since it can be very bad in some cases). My dad and grandfather have it, and I take a lot after my dad, so I wasn't shocked that I have it. Does anyone know if hormones (during pregnancy or otherwise) affect it? I'm just wondering if it will get worse now that I'm off BCP. I never really noticed differences during my cycle, but I didn't have it (well, show it) until I was older, and by then I was on BCP. Right now I look windburned and AF is due today/tomorrow (FX it doesn't show and I'm KTFU) My derm appt. isn't for another 8 mo., so I figured I'd ask if you guys have any personal experience with this. Thanks

Re: Rosacea & hormones

  • I also have a mild case of Rosacea....I've always had that look of the amazing blush, I just figured it was the tone of my skin, until I was at my annual check up with my dermatologist & he says "we should do something for your Rosacea..". That was about 6 months ago, I think? He gave me this cream that I apply twice a day, it's like a lotion & it's basically an anti- inflammatory cream.

I've never really noticed a difference with AF, but if I'm too hot, too cold, drink alcohol or eat spicy food, it tends to "get mad" at me.

I don't know if this helps, but that's my experience :) Oh, and green tinted makeup is amazing ;)

  • I have rosacea....and not the kind that looks like amazing blush, lol! I have it around my temples, under my eyes, cheeks, under my nose. Ugh. My skin seemed to get a bit worse after baby as well. :( I haven't done anything about it yet since I want another LO. I agree with PP, I use the green tinted makeup and mineral foundation powder helps a lot as well. GL!

  • I have a mild case too.... I didn't notice a change once I went off bcp... however when I got pregnant I noticed a significant difference.  It got much worse for me---- got more distinct in the area that I had it all my life, and then I gained a new patch of it... yippie :(  Definitely think hormones play a role in how it looks.
