Lawyer meeting today, cross your fingers for me!

I have a meeting w/my ambulance chaser today (I kid, he's super cool). I have a huge tote of docs I had to find and bring in that my husbands lawyer requested I get. Like, 3 years of taxes, 3 years of credit card statements, life/health insurance policies, etc...it's madness. I found most of my credit card statements online, but if I HAVE to get the rest of them through Visa, its $10/statement. So I almost had to pay $330 for years of statements. I still might have to pay a couple hundred.

I also find out if I have to file with my spouse for taxes this year - which I actually WANT to do, because I always owe money and this way it'll get paid and we'll wind up splitting a smaller refund, so take that jerk. It's his fault I owe every year anyway.

I hate doing this, I just want this over with.

(To refresh memories: I'm still trying to get a divorce, it's been going on since 2012. Ugh).

And I have no clue why this stuff is requested. I already told them I had proof of money that I took off my credit card to give to him when we did home improvement updates (I'm asking for that money back).

So far I got 16 months of statements online for free. Hopefully they will accept just those.

The only good thing I can think of is that I'm assuming we will ask for the exact same things from him as well, so he can fun coming up with $330. Jerk.

I should have started the process sooner. I moved out June 2012, but finally came up with enough money for a lawyer June 2013. I honestly thought it would be over with in a couple of months, but he's decided to fight me on it. Apparently I don't deserve money back because I 'abandoned' him and it wasn't my house because it's not in my name also.

I paid half the mortgage monthly on that house. He would call it 'rent'. I'm not joking. I was his wife and he called it 'rent'. Like I was his tenant. He's classy.

It went well! He's very confident that I'll come out 'ahead' in this. We're waiting to hear back from XH lawyer about filing taxes together, and I even offered to pay to have it done (because this will benefit me anyway). He said all my paperwork looked really good, so we just have to meet more times coming up to prep me for my day in court. Yikes.

Ugh, divorces bring out the worst in people (I mean your ex, not you). The shit they contest and stunts they pull make me insane. My boss is a divorce lawyer, so I see it all day. I feel your pain a little bit, Teal. Hopefully things get resolved fairly and quickly for you.
