So today I had my 38 week appointment. I am currently 38 weeks 5 days and the Dr did a cervical check and he said I am 0% effaced and 0 cm dilated and the baby is still very high. Last week I saw the Nurse Practitioner and she said I was 40% effaced. I asked him about this and he said I am definitely not effaced or dilated .. I know that it means nothing and I can go in to labor any time but I felt disappointed in my body. I immediately asked him about his induction policy.
My doctor is in the hospital next week and not clinic so I asked him since I wasn't going to see him at my next week's appointment, which was scheduled for Friday Jan 31st, how far he lets his patients go before inducing. He said he doesn't like his patients to go 1 day over 41 weeks and then he said he has a 2 hr window on Tuesday Jan 28th that he can come in to the clinic next week and do my appointment. I am very happy about this because obviously he wasn't going to schedule an induction date at this time but now that I get to see him next week and a whole 3 days early, I feel a lot better. He said they do not like to schedule inductions on the weekends so if I am still pregnant on 2/7, they will induce that day. I know that it isn't a definitive date and that baby can come on his own still but having a date that could mean meeting this little guy, makes me mentally relaxed for some reason.
I think I felt disappointed in my body because DD came at 38 weeks (my water broke and had her 6 hrs later) and DS came at 37 weeks (my water broke and had him 5 hrs later).. and I went in to PTL at 34 weeks 4 days and the doctors all said I would be lucky to make it to 37 weeks.. Which I am very happy to make it past that time frame of course but also frustrated at the same time. I would rather they said I wasn't going any time soon.
I guess this turned in to a dear diary/vent post sorry. I also apologize for the rambling and run-ons.. WOW..
