4 month wakefulness / sleep regression...blah blah

So I've been up every 1-1.5 hours with this unhappy baby for the past week or more. I'm brain dead and have googled one million websites. Put down drowsy- works for naps but not at night for her- she screams over and over again. Nurse on demand- sometimes she barely eats and just wants to be held, don't nurse- sent DH in then he says she's rooting but she won't eat once she gets to me.
So yes I know it will pass eventually but for those who have gone through it, advice? Should I keep trying to put her down drowsy or wait til this crazy phase is over? Should I make DH come in and not offer her to nurse if she just ate like an hour before? I know they are to small for much sleep training but I don't want to be creating bad habits or is she still to young for it to matter? Tia from a sleepy momma!

  • I personally wouldn't worry too much about bad habits just yet (even though it's so hard to do). I food out yesterday that even when I was 18 months old my dad would rock me to sleep, put me in my crib where I would wake up and then sit in the rocking chair in my room until I fell back asleep just so I was comforted by him being there. As a mom myself I would worry about doing that and creating bad habits but now I am a great sleeper and I have been as long as I can remember.

  • My vote is to do what you have to do in order to get through this month. If you're on week 1 or 2 you could have another 2 to 3 weeks of crappy sleep left.

  • For the time being just do what you gotta do to get her back down. Don't worry about bad habits forming and just try to get through this period.  It sucks big time, but hopefully it will pass soon for you.

  • I could have written this post!  Last night it was every 30 minutes to an hour and I am DYING a slow painful, sleep deprived death.  She wants to nurse then falls asleep then wakes up 30 min later to do it all over again, this time getting pissed that milk is not coming out fast enough. I try to rub her belly and give paci but she will spit it out and press her lips together so that I can't give it again. LOL  I gave up at 4AM and put her in the guest bed with me and we slept til 6AM...that was the longest stretch we got all night so tonight we might start that way.

  • It lasted just about 3 weeks with us. I pulled LO into bed with us a couple times, after I got so tired if being up every hour or more. Last Sunday, she cut her first tooth and we are just about back to normal. Bed at 8, wake up to eat at 2-230, right back to sleep til 7. It majorly sucked when she was t sleeping, but it'll pass soon!!!!

I also want to add that I'm jealous of all of you who had a month or less of sleep regression.  We're already over the 1 month mark, and pedi said it can take a couple months.  :-(
