Success after IF

Did anyone do a natural cycle FET?

After weighing various options, DH and I decided on doing a natural cycle FET next cycle.
If anyone did a natural cycle FET, how did it go for you? One big attraction to me is not having to take hormones, especially after feeling so sick from Lupron the last time.
What monitoring did you have in your cycle? Was it a 'piece of cake' compared to a medicated cycle?

Me! It's the cycle when I got pregnant with K&A. To me our natural cycle was a sort of Hail Mary cycle after being cancelled twice. I was actually treating it as a break cycle mentally. All I had to do was take OPKs. The RE monitored my cycle too. I think I only had two monitoring appts and my transfer was scheduled at the second. I never even got a positive OPK. My lining wasn't stellar - 6.7 I think - but I was about to ovulate. I started PIO a day before transfer. It was pretty easy and now I have two beautiful daughters to show for it. :) Wishing you the very best of luck! I have everything crossed for you!

  • I haven't but am considering it.  I have a history of a blood blot in my leg so the thought of taking estrogen pills scares me a lot.  My RE said they see much higher success rates with medicated FETs though so I'm worried if it doesn't work I might regret doing a natural but it's great to see someone had success.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

We did a natural FET after our fresh IVF didn't work.  It was pretty simple, and yay for no medications, the PIO shots were not fun!  Basicially I used OPKs and also went into the RE for monitoring.  They did blood work and ultrasounds to check my lining and follicles.  Once they confirmed that I ovulated, through blood work and ultrasound (follicles disappeared) I went in for the next day FET.  I didn't have to take medication afterwards.  We are now 10 weeks.  For our clinic, they found the success rate between medicated and natural cycles to be almost the same.   Also, (obviously) you need to be a good candidate based on your medical history.  Our infertility issues were MIF, so the doctor said I was a good candidate.  Best of luck!
