Re: Potty Training Check IN!

  • DD is fully potty trained. We are waking her up around 11pm to go the potty and she usually wakes up 1 other time in the night. However, the past two nights she has slept through the night after 11pm potty trip!

    I'm apparently behind.

Joey has ZERO interest in in potty training.  He also has zero interest in wearing diapers.  As evidenced by DH going to get him out of his crib after his nap and finding a stark naked child pointing at the giant puddle of pee he was sleeping in for 2 hours.

He's gone a few times here and there but seriously refuses to even try to sit on the thing regularly.  I'm fine with waiting until he's ready to train if he'll keep his fucking diaper on but the kid is like the Houdini of naked.

I don't think you're behind, every kid is different plus I've heard boys are more difficult to PT. DD wets the bed sometimes during nap/ nighttime and sleeps in it for a while before she wakes up and realizes. Joey might be more ready than you realize. I highly recommend the3 Day Potty Trainibg method. But you've got a lot going on right now... Man I'm exhausted thinking about your life. Lol. Thank GOD I'm not KU, it exhausting!!

  • In all honesty we have only half-assed it. He will potty before his bath if we are lucky.

  • Yeah, I agree it is all a lot. It might be better for YOU to do it before baby comes... You think you're tired now.... But you really need to do what works best for you and your family. Maybe try full on PT for 2-3 straight days. If he's not ready then obviously wait. But maybe he'll surprise you... He's smart and knows what's he's doing, it's just getting him to train AND you getting the motivation.
I know DD was ready for 2-3 months and I just didn't do it because I wasn't motivated, plus there were several occasions (birthday party, DS surgery, etc) that wanted to get past before I started PT. DH and I actually got into an arguement because he accused me of being lazy and putting it off... He was right but still... He could've done it, jerk face.

  • 3dayPottyTraining.com is the method we pretty much used. My SIL used it for her son and several of their friends as well. I never purchased the eBook, but used the basic principals. The lady who wrote the book PT her 6 kids and 3 foster children around 18 mos old! Everyone I know who has used this method can't say enough good things. Again, I certainly don't want to give you the impression that I'm pressuring you to start PT. You do what works best for your family. I'm just hoping to give you some encouragement, seeing as how Joey is driving you a little crazy with his lack of clothing issues. ;)
Let me know if you have any questions about the method and if you do decide to start please give us updates because with Joey's spunky personality, I'm sure you'll have some interesting moments. Lol :)

  • I think I can now say DD2 is potty trained. Hooray!

Her accidents are far and few, and I actually decided to write them down just to see how good she actually is. I actually just took the changing station off her dresser this morning. All that's left is a stack of pull ups in her top drawer.

I don't dare attempt night time PTing yet even though she wakes up dry just about every morning. For one thing, she still insists on bed sharing with her sister. Annnd she FINALLY just started sleeping decently again. I'm in no rush to screw that up.

  • I am hesitant to try training too assertively because so many STMs keep telling me there is a huge risk of regression.

    Seeplusalso: lazy.

  • We haven't started - I'm waiting for warm weather so he can run around naked.

  • Fully trained since two BUT we were home a lot this summer because of dd2 so she was naked all the time and just kind of figured it out. Night time was a pure fluke and I know I just got lucky. Every once in a while she has a regression where she'll pee a little bit before telling me has to do like every time for a day or two and then seems to figure it out again.
