Procardia causing cramping?

Has anyone noticed if taking Procardia causes/caused them to cramp?

I'm not 100% that's what's happening, I really can't determine if these cramps are gas, or Procardia or even early contractions. But last week my Procardia dosage was upped from 10mg/every 6 hours to 20mg/every 6 hours. And ever since them I've just felt like absolute crap when I take it, and I feel like the longer I stay on it the worse it makes me feel. I get a horrible headache, my right leg gets hot and my foot feels like it gets swollen but it never actually swells, I have busted capillaries all over my chest now, and then this cramping that I've had for a couple days. I thought maybe it was contractions but it will go away, completely subside for a few hours and then as soon as I take my Procardia it comes back. I don't know if that's a normal side effect or I'm just crazy or if I need to call my OB.

Re: Procardia causing cramping?

  • I would talk to your OB. I'm not sure what you are taking procardia for, but its purpose is to relax muscles-which should slow/stop premature contractions, not cause them.

  • That's what I thought too, so when I was having cramping for like 2-3 days I called my doctor and they of course just sent me to the hospital. I went, they hooked me up to the monitors and I wasn't having any contractions and the baby had a good strong heart beat and was active so I was sent home.. It's so weird. But so long as I'm not contracting then everything is all good I guess. They checked me, I was only 1cm dilated, and my bag was still intact (even though I've lost my mucus plug already) soooo I guess this is just part of pregnancy? I've never been this pregnant before so part of me just doesn't know what to expect.
