Insomnia

Does anyone have advice for how to cope with insomnia? I tried to go to bed at 8:30 last night and layed in bed until 10:30. I finally got up to eat something because I got really hungry. Slept from 11:30-3 and then woke up again and could not get back to sleep. I finally got up at 5:00 for the day. I operate a home daycare and am not functioning well. I want to cry every ten min.

  • Also, if you are laying in bed and can't sleep, get up and do something until you feel tired. If I lay in bed while I have a hard time falling asleep, I get frustrated and irritated and that just fuels my adrenaline and makes it harder to sleep. Usually if I get up and start to clean, do laundry, read, etc. I start to feel tired and once I lay back down, I can usually go right to sleep. Or, try a warm bath and as others suggested, a cup of tea. That should help your body relax a bit and hopefully get to sleep.
