Anterior placenta mamas

So at 26w I am still feeling no movement. I feel random kicks when they are on my sides or lower abdomen but is that still pretty late to feel no movement? Didnt know if any other mamas have had to wait so long. My 23w friend talks about her baby dancn all the time makes me depressed. Dont get me wrong I am over the moon excited were pregnant together just gets me worried when I feel nothing still.

Re: Anterior placenta mamas

  • I think as long as you are feeling kicks, you should be fine. I had an anterior placenta with DD, and again with this pregnancy, it sucks. I felt DD more than I feel this LO, which makes me nervous. As long as I feel a few kicks a few times a day I try not to worry. Easier said than done, though! I was hoping for more movement at is point too. I am 25 weeks today. Hope these babies start really moving soon! :)

  • I had an anterior placenta with my son and now have a posterior placenta with my daughter, and it's a huge difference. With my son it mostly just felt like gentle pushing from the inside. With my girl it's full blown kicks and thrown elbows. I also felt it with her much earlier. So don't fret, it really is the cushion of the placenta. And frankly, after getting some hard kicks I sometimes miss that!

  • I have an AP and I've been feeling kicks/jabs/movements for about two weeks now (24 weeks 1 day now)... they're not consistent by any means (which makes me stress probably even more than when I felt nothing haha)... they still have room in there though so try not to worry too much! And as always, if you CAN'T stop worrying just give your nurses line a call! =)
  • I have an ap and am feeling lots of movement but baby is measuring about 2 weeks ahead so I'm sure size has a lot to do with it. Plus some babies are just more active then others.

Try not to worry. Bring it up to your provider at your next appointment so they can give you some input, but I'm sure things are fine.

  • I'm 24 weeks tomorrow and am the exact same as you - I feel them rarely and only when they're low or on the side.  It's so different from my DD (who I was feeling constantly by now) that it does worry me a little from time to time.  I have an appt next week and I'll probably mention it just because.

  • I have an anterior placenta and I don't feel nearly as much as I did with DS. It sucks but not much we can do about it.

I have one. I'm 23w2d. I have felt the most movement this week. Almost daily. It feels like muscle spasms to me. I wouldn't worry since every woman and baby are different. My first "movements" were baby kicking my bladder so that hasn't been fun! Lol. And that's been going on for weeks. My hubby was able to feel her two nights ago since she was being a little ninja in there :) good luck, you'll feel it soon!
  • I have a low lying anterior placenta. I'm the opposite though, the fact that i'm feel more and more kicks makes me nervous. I had Partial Placenta Previa last pg that moved to complete by the end of the pg (Moved the wrong way), so I'm nervous this one is moving the wrong way as well. We will find out at our next u/s appt on 2/14.

  • I have ap this time and didn't have it with DS. It is a different ballgame in terms of movement. Like you, I primarily feel it off to the side. If you are concerned, talk to your doc. We are still too early for kick counts, so I just focus on if I feel something each day...especially at the usual times (when I am resting or if I just drank juice).

  • Hang in there!! I have an AP & have been feeling her well since week 19/20. I could feel from the outside @ wk 21!! :D You'll definitely feel it more as baby gets bigger and stronger! Her degree and extent of movement varies every day!
  • Thanks ladies! Makes me feel better. I know its good I feel her occasionally. Just some days it makes me really depressed bc the only thing telling me im pregnant is my luvly baby bump! Kinda just needed a little reassurance today :)

  • Like the other ladies said it's different for everyone. I went from not feeling her at all (week 22) to full on bursts of kicks at week 23. I'm watching her almost every night make "waves" on my belly and I'm just surprised that my anterior placenta is actually still anterior lol. I did originally just feel them on my side when I was laying on my left.

  • I have an anterior placenta but I do feel regular movement. Nothing close to my first child but still regular. Has your doctor asked you to start kick counts? If I'm getting nervous about lack of movement I do counts and usually when I'm paying close attention I feel more than I realize.

  • I have an AP too and while I do feel kicks and jabs, I'm not feeling any "rolling" baby movement.  I also just started seeing kicks from the outside.  I've found that LO is most active at night when I'm laying in bed trying to sleep!

  • I go back next Friday. At my last appointment, 23w she had asked about movement intold her no and she looked at my ultrasound and told me about the placenta. The doc that reviewed my ultrasound at my 19w appointment didnt say anything about it.

So we will see what they say next week. Ill be 27w then. maybe ill start trying to do the counting. I work as a transcriptionist so i am listening to my doc talk all day while i type so maybe i am really just not paying enough attention.

  • I have an anterior placent and I didn't with DD. I think this baby kicks way more than DD did. I've been feeling him since very early. I just don't feel kicks where my placenta is supposed to be at. I mostly feel them very down low or very high up.

I am 23 weeks, 3 days and I didnt start feeling anything until last week and it is still not consistent- I feel her a few times a day and it feels like small bubbles popping in my abdomen- weird, i know, but that is what it feels like. I use my doppler for peace of mind. She especially seems to like when DH sits with his hand on my stomach because she will always give a small round of kicks under his hand- but he cant feel it yet :(

  • I have an AP as well and only feel kicks throughout the day. I don't feel "movement" as in flips and such.

  • I'm 21 weeks (22 tomorrow) with an AP and felt her first kick at the beginning of 20 weeks. Very faint, few, and far between at first and now suddenly she's doing it ALL DAY LONG sometimes. It feels so hugely obvious to me, but even when she gives me a huge karate kick, my husband can't feel her from the outside so perhaps I'm just ultra sensitive and the movement is pretty subtle? I think as long as you're feeling something it's fine, you just might not be feeling everything that's happening. My "aha!" Moment came during my 19 week AS when on the screen she was kicking, punching, doing somersaults...and I felt absolutely nothing. Kinda weird, but I imagine my placenta as a big meaty steak separating my belly and little one...of course it's gonna be muffled.
  • I'm 25 weeks today with an anterior placenta, and still don't feel her much. This week I felt her most days but it's random and still just like little tickles. I really wish I felt her more regularly. When my OB asked and I told her I just wasn't feeling her much, she said that was to be expected and that she's always surprised when mom's with APs tell her they are feeling a lot.

  • I am 25 weeks with an ap and only feel her early in the morning and late at night. If I am sitting on the couch and I lean down to take my shoes off, she will kick but other that, I rarely feel her.

  • I have an AP and honestly, I am probably glad I do.  I feel this kid all over the place sometimes and can only imagine what it would be like without it.

I also had an AP last pregnancy and never really felt the kicks, but think my daughter was a lil lazier...I would feel her stretch from time to time late in the pregnancy....and her ass camped out underneath my rib cage...but no real kicking.
  • This is our fourth baby and first time with a anterior placenta…as well as marginal previa…and I will say it is COMPLETELY different from my first three in terms of movement.  I'm 24 weeks today…and although I do feel movement…it is not near as frequent and as much as my posterior placenta pregnancies.  I'm constantly worried because I know how much I have felt my other babies move…A lot of times I go the whole day without feeling her…especially if I'm super active…which is pretty much every day…and I do not feel her AT ALL at night and that is torture as well.  My OB has to always remind me as to how thick your placenta is…like almost 1.5 inches if not more…and if you think about it…that cushions your kicks A LOT…still so frustrating though…hang in there...

  • I'm a FTM with an AP as well. I am 24w2d, and I have been feeling some movement on my sides and lower abdomen. I usually feel the movement at night time when I'm lying on the couch or in bed. I've only been feeling movement for about a week now. Some kicks are stronger than others, but I can definitely tell it's movement. I'm guessing the reason I'm not feeling the baby move as much as it is moving is because it's still small. But we'll see what these up coming weeks have to bring. I can't wait for the day that my husband actually gets to feel LO moving around.
  • I am 25 weeks, 5 days and have an AP.

There are days here and there where I don't feel anything, and other days when I can feel and see some movement. It seems to happen mostly after I eat something, but sometimes it does not happen. I used to worry about that at first but now I know that I'm just missing some of the movements because of my cushion.

The doctor doesn't seem worried about that and said the things you read about kick-counts may not be something I will be able to do. 10 an hour has never happened for me (plus it is a little early for that anyway).

  • I'm a FTM with an AP, so I can only attest to what I feel now with this pregnancy. It took a while to feel daily movements, but as of the past 3 weeks or so (25 now) I can feel them pretty regularly (it started off only during certain times of the day). I feel kicks and flutters. Sometimes hiccups. I can even see the belly move!

My doctor told me not to worry too much above constant movement and kicks until the 27th week or so. Everyone is different, and it depends on the size of your torso, belly, weight, where the baby is, etc. Well, as far as my doctor is concerned.

So hang in there! As always, when in doubt, ask your doctor!

  • I am 23w with a AP and I can only feel occasional movements down low. I did see my stomach move last night, but I didn't feel it as strong as when my whole stomach would move when I was pregnant with my DS.

  • I am 24 weeks and I had placenta previa from 16 weeks on and I felt him move all the time well last week i barely felt him move so I had an ultrasound and my placenta previa is gone but now I have an anterior placenta and I can tell the difference! I barely feel him move it stinks because I am a worry wort! I hope it get better for us I wanna feel my boy move! Lol
  • I had ap last time and I didn't start consistently feeling kicks until 30 weeks or so. I was even worried because I could never really even get consistent kick counts and my doc said it was normal for ap. I know it's not fun to hear others talking about movement. Hang in there, you will feel more towards the end when your LO is bigger and further along.
