How do you know you have the right formula?

We started DS on enfamil and gave the costco generic formula a try since it saves so much money and is similar to similac. It foams up a lot and I notice more random burps throughout the day but nothing too major. How do know you picked the right formula? Does burping mean he's "gassy"? Trying to decide if we go back to the enfamil.

  • If your saving money and all he does is burp a few times, why would you change back?

  • Sometimes he doesn't get the burps out and gets squirmy. Not necessarily in pain but squirms in his sleep.

  • Yeah I don't know either . All I know is she drinks it and goes to the bathroom regularly . She spits up a little but I'm pretty sure that's normal . I use simulac advanced and the one for gas .
  • I thonk that you will just know if not the right formula with DD she was on enfamil gentlease and would projectile and I knew that wasn't right turns out she need nutramegin. Now with DS we started him on similac advance and dI'd great besides the occasional spit up so I decided to try target up & up bc of cost and he does just as good. If baby seems content then I say stay with it if he/she seems fussy someTimes try gas drops out how water both are all natural and completely safe these could help allot with burpingg and some gas
  • I use the Kirkland formula too while at home for supplementation and it is foamy, but LO doesn't mind. She actually is easier to burp on Kirkland brand than any other samples of powdered formulas we've tried.

  • I used Kirkland formula with my twins, they did fine with it.  It's trial and error.  If they are super uncomfortable and seem to be doing fine then go with it.
  • You'll definitely know if you have the wrong formula. Doesn't sound like you do.
