C-sections

Seeking Nursing pillow recommendation

I am FTM and will most likely to have c- section due to low laying placenta. I am wondering if there is any particular brand of nursing pillow better for c- section mom. Thank you in advance.

Re: Seeking Nursing pillow recommendation

  • Not really.  So much of this depends on your body shape... not so much whether you had a c/s.  I used a boppy and had no issues.  I also used regular pillows in the hospital and they worked fine too.

  • For my first csection I bought the my Brest friend pillow because I read good things about it. At the hospital I quickly learned that it put weight on my incision and hurt too much to use for the first two weeks. But I definitely prefer it after I have healed a little. I had to send dh out to buy a boppy, which I used for the first couple weeks but didn't like nearly as much because I felt like the baby was always falling in the hole in the middle but it was better than nothing.

  • We have the Leacho Cuddle-U nursing pillow which is really similar to the boppy. I love it! DH doesn't really use it, well sometimes I catch him using it as a neck pillow though lol. :P But yeah it helped a lot in the beginning when I was still really sore! :)
  • Thank you ladies for all inputs!
  • both pillows are useful, boppy and breast friend, but as for the 1st few days/weeks, you may have to adjust and feed baby in football hold.  This is the most comfortable sitting up position to keep baby off  belly.  I like the breast friend because it's more firm and seems to hold baby a little higher. But I have and use both. Good luck with your delivery.

  • I have a my Brest friend pillow in the hospital (am bumping from hospital now, had RCS two days ago) and I don't like it at all. I've been using a regular pillow instead. I have a boppy at home that I've used previously and I prefer that over the Brest friend.

  • Not that I know of.... I have a boppy and had no issues with it bothering my incision site.

  • Another vote for the boppy! Also, ladies that are using regular pillows from the hospital, you must have a much better hospital than I did. My hospital pillow was about an inch thick, I would have needed 12 of them to support LO!

  • I've only had a C sections.  I used my SIL's boppy pillow with my first two babies, and it was great.  This time I'm going to try a "nursing pillow" that I got free with a coupon. It seems the same, albeit a tad smaller. If I don't like it, I'll send my H out to get a boppy.

  • No one seems to know or have heard of it- but the Luna Lullaby (can get it on their website or amazon) is MUCH more soft, plush & comfortable than the harder breast friend or Boppy. It's really comfortable to have on your belly as you're recovering. Highly recommend it.
  • Loved boppy but in the first week I held her in football hold. mUCH better on c section pain!
