Vagina question..

Totally tmi but I mean what haven't we discussed on this board??

I feel/can see a small white bump right where my stitches began, I had a second degree tear, don't know how bad or how many stitches, and I feel like everything has been healing okay, minor discomfort (5 weeks post partum) and I FINALLY got the courage to look at my lady bits for the first time in a long time! And I'm noticing this bump... I'm worried the doctor who delivered me messed up on the stitching or something??

Does anyone else have this?
I realize things will probably never look the same down there, but I just wanna make sure this is normal!

    It's usually the knot of the sutures under the skin....the suture material is quick dissolving, it of course just leaves scar tissue which will smooth out over time, don't worry!

    It's a little sore feeling but not really painful.. It definitely sticks out while the rest of my stitches have healed and I feel tiny little scars from them.

    I didn't look very closely at mine to see color, but I definitely had a tender little bump. I just left it alone for another week or two and it was gone. As others suggested, I think it was probably the knot in the stitches.

    So supposedly the stitches dissolve in 2 weeks.  I cut off the ends that were bothering me at about 2 1/2 weeks.    My ob cut some out from my tear at 5 weeks pp that HADN'T dissolved but were still at the surface above skin.   I still have a hard area where the stitches were placed. . .doesn't yet feel normal at 6 weeks pp.

    It depends on what they’re made from. Most dissolvable stitches start to break down within one to two weeks. However, it could take several months before your stitches disappear completely. After the wound has healed, it may be possible for a nurse to remove the loose ends of the dissolvable stitches, to speed up the process.

    Ask your surgeon or the healthcare professional treating you if they can tell you:

    • what kind of stitches you’ve been given
    • how long they will take to dissolve

    What are dissolvable stitches?

    Stitches are classed as dissolvable or absorbable if they lose most of their strength within 60 days. The stitches are dissolved by:

    • enzymes in your body tissues (enzymes are proteins that speed up and control chemical reactions in your body)
    • hydrolysis (a chemical reaction with the water inside your body)
