Baptism ....am I the only one?

So, we kind of dropped the ball with scheduling DS2 baptism. I finally called last week and we are doing it feb 2. They said we are the only baby scheduled which is good because we have people coming from OOT and probably want to get home for Super Bowl. I hope no one else calls from now until then. I feel bad making people come that day but it's a small group. Anyone else still not baptized but planning on it?

DH wants to get C baptized. I'm not Christian, so I told him he could deal with it if he wants it done. He hasn't scheduled it yet.

Yup. We do not belong to a church currently. And I keep forgetting to call around. I did buy him a cute little baptismal outfit at babies r us last week when they were having their amazing clearance sale.

We don't baptize until you are older, but we are doing her Baby Dedication next Sunday. It's usually done as a newborn, but it took me until recently to start going to church again since she was born.

Yep. I think I want to, but I don't want to do it in the Catholic Church (which is what I am) and haven't figured out which type of Christian church I want to go with.

Me too, glad I'm not the only one. DH was raised Catholic and I was raised Lutheran and we hadn't picked a family church. Also, DD and I both had complications after birth so we got way off track with scheduling.

We found a church and DD's will be in February or March depending on a few family members' work schedules.

Haha, glad I'm not the only one! We are Catholic, but haven't been to church in years, so I want to go back for a couple of months at least before we do the baptism, and then keep going. I did recently find out that the priest that baptised and confirmed me 6 years ago, recently came back from being out of the country and is at the church near us

So our plan is to start going back there, but I want to wait until it's not cold/flu season...so, we'll probably start going in March and she will likely be 1 by the time her baptism rolls around! I feel terrible about it!

I am having A baptized but I haven't set it up yet. I have to meet with the priest after mass to get the forms and meet with him again after mass before I can even go to the information sessions. It's pretty busy after mass so I just head home. Not a great excuse but that's it. I plan on doing it before she is 1. We also have to pick Godparents still. I can't decide who to ask.

Edit I am Catholic and I am still in the church so A will be baptized Catholic.

We will only have a small gathering after.

We don't baptize till they're old enough to make the decision, but I do feel guilty he hasn't been dedicated. In my defense, we have tried a few churches since moving here and while we have attended one more than the others, we still don't have a "home church".

I was raised Catholic, so of course my mom would like it to be done at a Catholic church. But I'd rather find another Christian church to belong to. Since we moved a year ago we haven't picked a local church, so that's what we have been slacking on. I thought I was the only one!

It is our plan to get it done at a Catholic church. We also let it be pushed to the back burner. We hope to do it sometime in March.

And at our church they have the parents write a letter to their child and read it out loud in front of the congregation. I feel so intimidated by the way its set up ! I wish it was just our pastor speaking

I would hate that, and be very intimidated, as well. Ours is very simple, with just the pastor speaking and then a prayer. All we have to do is say "yes, we will".

This is my husband's concern! He is scared to death that he will have to speak!

We still haven't scheduled it, my dad says lo will be the only baby who walks up by himself to get baptized.
