Another Weight Watchers question...

Does anyone who does WW have any tips about how to count points when you are eating out at a non-chain restaurant (I know at chain restaurants you can look up points on the app)?  I assume you just estimate?  But I wonder if there is something I am missing that I am supposed to do, or if there are any other tips? TIA :)

Re: Another Weight Watchers question...

  • I just estimate. If I eat a burger, I just put in "burger" and use the generic points. I try to eat grilled chicken, steak, or salmon then veggies as a side.

  • Sometimes I'll try to find a chain restaurant that is similar and use their information. Like if we're going to a local seafood restaurant and I get shrimp scampi, I'll look up what shrimp scampi is at Red Lobster.

  • Ditto what both PPs said. Also, maybe ask your server how X and X are prepared. Then you know to factor in butter/oil, etc. Also eyeball your serving size using the WW tips. Ie/ size of fist is a cup, size of your palm is 3oz of meat, etc.

  • I estimate and usually go with higher points. So if it's 1 serving of french fries is 7 points, I'll over guess and say I had 1.5 or 2 servings.
