My sister gave us a date night for christmas. Movie tickets, restaurant gc and babysitting (by her). We hope to take her up on the night soon. She is currently in Peru so we have to wait.
Next Tuesday is my husband's birthday and we are going out together alone for the first time since James was born!
We have gone out twice with friends, once when he was 4 months and when he was 5 months. Actually, now that I think of it, we did have a 30 minute sushi dinner when he was 6 weeks old but it was super rushed/not enjoyable
Who knows. My oldest is 3 and we've only had a few date nights since having him. Most of the time we just don't want to. We're so exhausted from working and commuting all week that we love be be lazy on weekend evenings. Watching TV in bed is a luxury these days. Funny to think that now compared to our pre-baby days where we had 11pm soccer games on work days and traveled to fun places. Life sure changed for us!
@mainerocks - Do(es) your mom and/or m-i-l live nearby? and if so, how have/has they/she felt about that? My mom said d.h.&I need a date night yesterday, but I don't think she's changed a diaper since mine, and when I've even given her d.d.'s bottle cap to hold on to, she holds it like it's a stinky open dirty diaper (same w/a wipe...and one time I asked her to pass me one, and instead of grabbing one from the pack, she swung the diaper bag at me so I had to grab one mid-air). Every diaper change she's around for she's like, "Well your mommy will take care of that". She's also unwilling to babyproof cuz she didn't for my brother and me...but she was also younger then, and we were possibly just lucky to have not been injured (at least not badly enough to know).
I picked 8 months bc that's when we are leaving DD for Mexico and we'll have 4 date days/nights- so until then I'm fine without one. My mom is making me leave DD with her one night before we leave for 'practice' but i plan on taking her at bedtime and picking her up bright and early!
No, both sets of grandparents live around 3.5 hours away. My parents rarely visit, but MH's are here too much (they aren't really visiting, just using us as a hotel). Sometimes the volunteer to babysit but we almost always decline. I don't think they care that we decline.
Ah, yea, my f-i-l's never offered, but I don't think he'd care if we declined either.
Re: c.p.W.: s/o date night, if you haven't...
