Two Thing Tuesday

Ok, I'm mixing it up a bit this week. Instead of 2 things, I'd just like to read some updates with everyone! How's your winter going? How's your LO/LO's? How are you/ your DH? Anything fun planned? Hows TTA/TTC/pregnancy/new baby? I want to know how life is going for everyone!

Life got crazy this past week. I had my first full day of work today: 8-1. It went great! I didn't even realize how late it was. The babysitter doesn't completely 'get' all the tube stuff, so that will be a challenge. I thought the job was just through tax season, but they want to keep me after that and the babysitter will only watch him through April so I need to find someone else to watch DS again. That's not going to be any fun.

DS has feeding clinic and private therapies for 2 hours on Fridays, I'm really nervous about the length of time and if he'll do ok for that long. We're going to try it though and see how it goes. I'm really hopeful that it will a good thing! He's finally getting onto his hands and knees by himself. I think he'll be crawling soon!

DH is good, we're finally on the same page about not spending money this year. We're working on saving and getting ahead for once! We are getting LASIK next month so we're really pinching pennies until that is paid off! My wages will go towards that until it's paid off, then into savings! YAY.

Still TTA even though last night DH said again that he's ok with TTC anytime. I got my 2nd depo shot about a month ago and I have been spotting the entire time. I don't know if I'll get it again or not...

That's the news for the T household!

  • First of all, @buddrfly421: Congrats on your BFP!

My winter has been good thus far. We're getting acclimated to being a family of four, and so far it is going very well. Next week DH goes back to work, and I'm slightly worried about how I'm going to handle both kids by myself. I'm sure it will all be fine, but it is going to take some getting used to especially for DS1.

DH is potentially going back to school this fall, which (depending on where he gets in) may involve us moving out of state. He has interviews set up for 2 schools (one of which is local, the other is not) and is still waiting to hear from 4 others. I'm very nervous yet excited at the same time!

The new baby is doing great! We're getting a routine down. Well, as much of a routine as you can get with a baby that is still not even two weeks old. He's above his birth weight and most nights will sleep for 3-4 hour stretches for which I am extremely grateful. DS1 continues to ask to hold the baby multiple times a day. It's great.

That's pretty much all that is new right now. We're all happy and healthy, and I can't ask for more than that.

  • So far our winter has been full of snow. We are more than a foot ahead of the average snow fall for the year. We are currently in Hawaii though enjoying 80 degree weather. It's just what I needed to get out of my winter funk.

We are planning on TTC in August after DH and I go on vacation alone. My baby is almost 8 months and already crawling and cruising the furniture. He is way ahead of his sister at this age and getting into way more stuff than she ever did. I have to actually babyproof my house this time around.

    Congrats @buddrfly421 so exciting!

We are doing good, but busy! I'm over the cold temperatures and snow and definitely looking forward to spring/summer. Probably won't start to see that for at least a couple more months :(
I'm doing therapy to strengthen my pelvic floor and they said i need to relax more, go figure!! DS is doing well, still not talking as much as we would like but hoping that when he gets tubes put in February 13th that it'll help! Have looked into doing private speech therapy for him after the tubes so might be doing that. Also just joined a Early Childhood class with him with kids his age that's once a week starting the end of this month through May so think that'll be good to be around kids his age. He LOVES his train table and plays with it all the time, so glad we got him that for his birthday! DH is doing well, he loves his job and is getting more responsibilities which will hopefully mean more future promotions! I'm behind everyone else in the world by years but I'm reading the second Hunger Games book, and I'm hooked! I've found that during DS's nap is a good time for me to read and relax so I'm working on that! My two sisters and I are planning a trip to South Padre Island, Texas in June for my grandfather's anniversary. Looks like we're getting a condo on the beach so I'm really excited about that! Also think we might do a family vacation to San Diego and Disneyland this fall. I know DS is young but have heard that almost 3 is still a good age and he'll be free at the parks, yay! Hope everyone continues to do well! Nice seeing what everyone is up to these days :)

  • Winter is nonexistent where I live, so I have nothing to say about that. We have been working on potty training G. She's a bit on the stubborn side so it's taking a lot of patience.
My little guy is already 8 months old and crawling everywhere. Time seems to go faster now with two.
We will probably TTC in May/June. H wants to now, but I want to bf until S is one and I don't want 3u3.

  • Sorry for the non-paragraphs but when posting with IE, it won't let me for whatever reason... DS is slowly recovering from RSV... He's doing good otherwise, but we've got to get this nap thing back to normal. Mom (and DCP) needs his nap! DD is going through a challenging phase (like it ever stops), she's adjusting to the new school which was the proper move to make, but making friends has been incredibly difficult for her as is keeping up with homework (when she gets frustrated she shuts down, we've been working with her on this but she's afraid to get back up after she "fails" at something).. The hard part is stuff we addressed at the beginning of the school year to help with some behaviors before they become problems they seem to have forgotten (i.e. when she gets "antsy" or not listening all she often needs is to do is go to the bathroom since she doesn't sense it like most people normally do..), the hard part is this latest time happened after she was "backed up" over a week and the miralax FINALLY kicked in after three days (it was a success that she told us she was having issues in the first place, but this also meant she hadn't in over a week at that point, she wasn't in any pain or anything, just backed up and antsy about it because she knew she needed to GO..) - while she was on a field trip for school, she was antsy/wandering looking for a bathroom and they interpreted it as she was misbehaving and not listening (she sensed that it'd be awkward to ask the chaperone who she didn't really know before the trip to stop and help her find a bathroom - which again, for her to "read" a situation is a step in the right direction though difficult to say "that's one time when it's o.k.!").. As for weather, I think I'm the odd Mom out who isn't minding it when DD has a random day off from school because of the weather (even if I think some of these days have been sort of silly to have off the full day - 2 hour delay, that'd be appropriate, but full day is overboard). Unfortunately we just got notice that if the district closes that we'll still have school this week because they're afraid of having to make up days in June. Honestly, after the Friday before Memorial Day, no kid is actually learning anything in school that they'll retain, so why require kids to be there for the babysitting so the whole "make up days" really is bunk IMO...

  • Sorry I haven't checked in in a while!

We actually had two snow days in the last 5 days(unheard of in Austin!) and both happened to be on the day that Alex usually goes to Mother's Day Out. So I didn't get a whole lot done. I did enjoy spending extra time with my sweet boy though, I know it will not be this easy in a few weeks!

We are building a studio shed in our backyard for DH's office, since he works from home and we only have 3 bedrooms. So that'll free up his current office (the 3rd bedroom) for my desk, a futon for guests and maybe a couple of bookshelves, too, and I can make a little play corner in the living room area where my desk is now. This makes we way too excited, ha! They should be done in a couple of weeks, so I hope this baby takes her sweet time to get here.

I am now 32 weeks and 5 days along and definitely starting to feel the 3rd trimester aches and tiredness. I have a ton of pelvic pressure and have to force myself to take it a bit easier. I just don't want to miss out on the fun bike rides with DH and DS and long walks etc. on the nice days we are having.
I have washed all baby clothes form birth through 6 months and have prepared a bunch of freezer meals already, too. Still want to make a few more, but otherwise we are ready for her, I think. I hope we can make it to at least 37 weeks this time (Alex was born at 36w3d).

Alex is in a really good phase right now, he listens and is sweet most of the time. He has started to say a few more words and is up to about 40 now. We are not worried about his language or overall development anymore and think he is just off to a slower start than other kids in some areas. He loves his MDO class and he has gained a ton of social skills since he started.
