hooked on "the sauce"

Oh the applesauce!  I'm still not sure how this substance got into my house.   LO knows where it is, wants it bad, and freaks out if we say no.  Pretty sure grandma hit the costco and stocked us up with a billion cups of it.  At least it's the no sugar added kind!  What is it about applesauce??

Re: hooked on "the sauce"

  •  Your post made me smile. In the past week LO's been eating it like a champ. She's had 2 of the cups on some days- we buy the no sugar added as well. I'm actually not too concerned at the moment because I think it's helping with easier BM's (LO has issues with constipation). When I feed her, I give her other stuff first and finish with the sauce because I don't want her to get full on it and refuse other stuff. We'll see what happens and if this is the beginning of having  a crazy sauce addicted child.

  • DS also loves applesauce.  I think if you buy the kind without sugar added, it's not a huge deal.  DS is more addicted to Cheddar Bunnies, which have much less nutritional value than applesauce, so those we really have to hide.

I am finding that DS is beginning to refuse a lot of foods and I end up giving him a lot of plain greek yogurt to make sure his belly is full and he's getting protein.

  • To OP, I'm sorry for your struggles with the sauce :) Maybe you can look into AA for toddlers meetings? (Applesauce Anonymous of course...)
LOL I'm imagining a group of toddlers all sitting in a circle in their colorful mini chairs...
  • Applesauce is the only way I can get my LO to eat vegetables right now so oh well! As my mom reminded me, at least she's eating the vegetables :)
  • Mine loves cinnamon applesauce and peanut butter crackers, which she calls "snack". And she will pull them out of the pantry herself! If we put them on a high shelf, she attempts to climb the shelves or stands there hollering "SNACK!!!" Or "APPLES!!!" And very helpfully pointing. Lol. She could join the support group and fit right in.

Applesause squeezies are all the rage in our house. I swear he has about 3-4 a day. When my H is in charge, probably more like 5-6. It is insane. He is obsessed.

  • My boy has this obsession with bananas. Seriously! He will be in the middle of a meal and point over to the banana basket then proceed to cry and point until he gets one.
