Help Needed with Middle Name Incorporating Lyn or Lynn

Hello Ladies,
With my mother's death on Saturday, I'd like to incorporate her middle name into out baby's middle name if this baby is a girl.  Her middle name is Lynn which I am not a huge fan of on its own.  I'd like suggestions.  It can be madeup, non-traditional, old fashion, doesn't matter.  It just has to incorporate Lynn or Lyn in it somewhere.  You all are so creative, what are some suggestions?

Right now, my front runners are Lynnley, Lynnsey, Lyndsey, and Ashlynn.  The first name will be either Amelia or Emilia.

Thank you all so much!

Re: Help Needed with Middle Name Incorporating Lyn or Lynn

  • I like the Ashlynn and Lynnley, those are adorable and different. Ashlyn is more common but I still like it. My mother's middle name is Lynn but goes by her first and my MIL name is Lynne. So if something were to happen to them, I would want to do the same as you. Incorporate it somehow.

I think Emilia Ashlynn would go great together.

  • My mom grew up with a girl name Loralynn. :) I like that idea of incorporation your mother's name, that's very sweet. And I totally understand not being in love with the name. My DH insisted on giving our son his grandfather's name... but it's Virgil. NOT a favorite but it works OK for my son. And at least it's only his middle name.

Good luck! I like Lynnley but wonder if two y's would be awkward to write? Have you tried other variations of spelling? Just keep in mind what ever you choose will be perfect!

  • I love that you are incorporating your mom's name into a middle name. No matter what you pick, that will be special. I have to say I kind of agree with the PP that mentioned that since Amelia/Emilia is a longer name, it works better with a short mn. If it was me, I'd probably just go with Lynn even if I didn't love it. It's just a middle name.

Side note...my middle name is Lynn, it was my dad's middle name, so while I never really loved it, it is special to me.

  • Just throwing it out there, but Linn is an Old English boy's name so if it is important to you to incorporate it and you have a boy, it could still be an option.
  • I've always liked the name Jessalynn.
  • These are all good suggestions.  Thanks and keep them coming!

  • Check out this website: https://www.babynamewizard.com/baby-name/advanced-name-finder You can type "lyn" or "Lynn" into the "must end with" field and it will give you a ton of names. I like Evalyn for a girl. Good luck to you!

  • My mom passed a few years ago and DD has her name for a middle name. It's super special that you are using it if it's a girl. Madelyn would be cute! Also, it's weird when you talk stern to your kid and use your mom's name. Like your talking stern to her. Lol

  • I woke up the other morning with the name of a girl from high school (15 years ago!) in my head: Lynnae.

    Maybe it was for you!

  • I second Lynnette. It's so simple, pretty, and feminine. I think Amelia Lynnette sounds beautiful.
  • It's not common but I know a Maelynn. Just another suggestion.

  • Lynden is another choice. I remember it as a girl's name from some book.
  • @Lawgrl04 - If you are going to use Evelyn, please spell it with the second e or she will forever be spelling her name to people.
