Did your baby drop?

Im 40 weeks on friday and everyone keeps asking me this. I dont think the baby has dropped, but would i even feel it? Does this have to happen before i go into labor or can it happen during labor?

I was told the opposite, that first babies do not drop. In any case, I did not with DS.

I never felt LO drop. I am not sure if she was always low or if she did make her way down but at my 39w4d appointment I consented to my only cervical check. My OB told me that LO was low. I never felt any difference so I am not sure if she way always there or did drop. I went into labor naturally the next day.

DD never dropped. I heard that it is common for FTM to NOT drop but it does happen sometimes that FTM drop before labor.

ETA: I take that back, she didn't drop according to my MW but I felt her "settle in" a few weeks before i was due. I looked and felt like she was lower but it was subtle and my MW was adamant that she had not dropped.

My DS was super high until I went into labor. While I was in labor he dropped. It doesn't always happen beforehand, even for FTMs.

No, DS didn't drop until I was in labor. It was then that I realized what everyone was complaining about because it was super uncomfortable.

DD who was my first dropped at 36 weeks. DS didn't drop until I was at the hospital, in labor probably around the time I was in transition.

Everyone is different. I wouldn't worry about it.

My son didn't drop until I was fully dilated. ETA: his head was nice and round

Good to know! Im due tomorrow but i still feel baby in my ribs. Sounds like that doesnt matter much though! Thx ladies!

I dropped at 38 weeks and didn't deliver until 41+4. I noticed becuase the day she dropped my entire tummy erupted in stretch marks. I could breath easier and I had to pee twice as often but I don't think it had any effect on labor.

My first didn't drop until after my water broke before labor started. This baby dropped at 37 weeks and I swear is trying grind his or her little head right in there. Poor babe is going to have pointy ears and a smushed up face from being jammed in there

For my first one, I definitely felt him drop...well noticed after it happened. He had been transverse, turned, and then after a bit of that, I felt his head putting pressure a lot lower than in the past. I'm glad it happened because I was no longer worried he was going to turn transverse again.
