WWYD- Trade in or keep?

I received the BRU flyer in the mail yesterday and their Trade In Event is coming up.

When registering, I picked out gender neutral items to save for future baby(ies). But now I am rethinking saving the infant car seat and instead trading it in for a convertible car seat. Plus, we don't plan on having baby #2 for a couple more years so it would just sit in the attic. But I can see DH not liking this bc his mom got it for us and he feels it is bad luck to get rid of anything someone has given him. Although, the car seat is LO's and not his.

WWYD or what do you plan on doing?

@2010Bride2be That's what I was thinking about standards changing, too. Do you think they will take my bases as well?

I think they give you a coupon for what you trade in so you should be able to use it for anything. The catch is that you have to use the coupon immediately. I am pretty sure you can't come back another day and use it.

I asked them. You can trade in anything for a car seat. Honestly though one of the seats I'm looking at would be cheaper with a coupon at BBB than at BRU for discount.

I would keep your infant seat just in case it happens sooner than later. Honestly they are pricey for the amount of time you really use them.

You can trade in any of their "approved" items for any other "approved" items but there are certain brands exempt from the purchase and like PP said you have to use it the same day. I would check to make sure the convertible you want was an approved brand and then I would price shop online to see if you can get it cheaper. Sites like amazon and albeebaby.com are often cheaper.

I agree with PPs that BRU, even with discount, is probably more expensive than Amazon or other online stores. I'd keep the infant seat because they are good for like 7 years. If you want to trade it late, BRU usually has these events once a year.

I'd trade in something else that was cheaper like the bouncer or something.
