What time do you consider it morning?

In terms of LO's sleeping? 4, 5, 6am? Like last night LO slept 8-1 and then 2-5. She went back down around 6 but I still consider that getting up 1x a night, but I have a friend who thinks any time before 6 is getting up at night. She was also lucky enough to get her kids to do 12+ hour stretches at 6-8 weeks old! There's really no point to this, just curious on everyone's opinion. I consider 5 as morning, seeing as I use to wake up before 5am to work out.

Re: What time do you consider it morning?

  • Were her kids eating constantly while awake?! 12+ is A LOT for a 6-8 week old. I would consider 5 to be morning. So yes your LO only wakes once a night.

  • Michael has a feed before we go bed about 11-12 then sleeps till about 4/5 has another feed then sleeps till after 8. So I say he wakes up once during the night. If we go bed early he would wake us up twice. If that makes sence :-/
  • DS1 wakes up at 6 every single morning so if I have to wake up anytime before that I consider it waking up.

I dunno what the hell they did but I am jealous! Her first was a preemie, and at 8 weeks would sleep 6pm-7am!! (She had gained enough weight by then so the pediatrician gave her the go ahead to not wake her for feedings). Her second did the same starting around 6 weeks.

  • I hate your friend.

I consider 6 am morning and I wouldn't be as grumpy having to get up then. Anything before is "but it's too early" ....
But I definitely try to get LO to sleep later than that. She's feeding now and I am hoping based on her mood she'll sleep longer after eating.

I'm spoiled. 7:30 is the earliest I consider morning, but before Baby, it was 8:30.

My first LO slept 7pm - 7am at 9 weeks. Next one was 12 weeks. Hoping for that 9 weeks mark again!

  • DH is up for work at 5. Normally I got up at 6, but will be getting up at 5 when I go back now with LO. So for me, that's morning. I actually sleep more now on leave then I will going back to work, since I still like to go to bed with DH (10-11) and sleep later in the AM (today was 8:30) after one MOTN feeding.

  • 6am is morning to me. DD and our dog wake us up around 6:30.

  • I say 7 am is morning, since that's when DD1 wakes up, and when we do.

  • LO has me up 2 times a night. I've been starting my day lately at 8am. Before her I usually wouldn't get up till 11am. Those were the good old days :(

  • I think anytime before 630 night time cuz that's what time I used to get up for work so when LO was up at 515 to eat I thought it was MOTN
  • I consider her 7-8 feeding "morning", even though she normally goes back down until 10-11. So bed at 11 until about 4 to eat then up again and back down. So I consider that getting up once a night.

  • To me morning is if it's light out. When LO wakes up and it's still dark, that is "middle of the night" to me.

  • At our house the alarm goes off at 5:45 right now. When I go back to work, it will be 5, so I consider 5ish ( give or take) to be morning.

  • Morning starts when I have coffee. Anything before that does not exist.

I'd say 4am for us. That's our normal get up for work time.

  • C's nighttime sleep stretch is in 12 hour cycles with three feedings in between, so to her night is 11pm to 11am.
  • 7am is morning for us since that's when LO seems to have her eyes wide open. I'd be happy to go back to sleep though since I used to wake up at 9 for work.

  • She usually sleeps from 2-5 or 6, so I would consider that morning. Sometimes she will fall back to sleep until 8-8:30, but I consider that a bonus...
  • I consider her 7-8 feeding "morning", even though she normally goes back down until 10-11. So bed at 11 until about 4 to eat then up again and back down. So I consider that getting up once a night.

Same here...though my definition will change when I go back to work and will be putting LO to bed earlier and getting up earlier.

  • We consider 6am morning.
  • 5am is morning, not a happy morning because it's early but yes your little one was up only once.
  • LO typically wakes up somewhere 4am so I think that's when I think of it as morning. Before LO was born I would've said 5am is morning.
