Nursing DS has come to an end

I'm a little sad. He's been nursing once a day first thing in the morning for a few months now. Its been getting shorter and shorter and the last few days he has completely refused. This morning I didn't even try it and just fed him his oatmeal first thing. I'm really happy we made it 16 months. I knew this was coming, but it breaks my heart a little. :(

    Way to go mama! That is impressive! It's ok to feel sad, but don't let it overpower how proud you should feel!

    16 months is an amazing accomplishment. Way to go mama! I think it's totally natural to be sad about it. It was a huge commitment of your time and body, and a very large part of your life. I am still nursing my DD (2x a day) and I am ready to wean but still sad at the idea. ((Hugs))

    That's awesome!! We did it until 15 when Ds turned out to have an allergic disease, and I didn't take on his long list of eliminations to continue. It was kind of heart wrenching (cold turkey though). There are hormones at play, that encourage us to keep going and feel sad when we don't. Those clear up soon, and it's not as emotional. You did a great job:)

    That's awesome  :D  Congrats for making it so long!  DD stopped nursing a month ago at 14 months.  I was relieved to be done though haha.  It is of course sad that they grow so quickly, but I am happy to have a break between nursing her and LO2!

    Congrats on making it that far! We made it to 15 months and then I decided I was sick of not being able to eat what he was allergic to. It was still bittersweet, so I totally understand.

    It's a very bittersweet time when they self-wean. You did a great job mama! You won't have long before another will be latching on...try to enjoy the break :)

    16 months! I stopped at 9 once she could bite down I was all set. Power to ya idk how you could do it for that long.

    That's awesome!

    DD is definitely slowing down and that trend will likely continue when she is introduced to whole milk within the next week or so.
