  I can tell you that you will probably like the second book, tolerate the third book, and DESPISE the fourth book.  The series went downhill SO quickly.  So enjoy the first one!  It was the best.
  
  Also, @missconstrued I just finished the fourth book.

  Book 4 is when I gave up on the PLL series, it just started getting too ridiculous. I do catch the show every now and then but that doesn't follow the series at all.
