How would you pronounce this name?

We love Anastasia for a girl.

If you saw this name would you say it: Ana-stac-ia or Ana-stay-sha (basically: long a sound or short a sound, I'm having trouble typing out the sounds)

And if someone pronounced it wrong would you correct them?

Yep, "stay" in the middle. And yes, correct others. Except if it's your dentist office. I am tired of correcting them. Grrrr.

I pronounce it STAY. I'd totally correct someone if they said my kid's name wrong.

Well, because of my extensive viewing history with the movie, I've always pronounced it with the 'stay'.

I would probably correct someone if they said it wrong...I've had my first name mispronounced my whole life (it's a very common and easy name too, people are just stupid) and I don't have a problem correcting people.

I personally don't think changing it to a c instead of an s is going to get people to pronounce it "Ana-stac-ia" over" Ana-stay-sha"

Yes, technically it will read Anastacia, but people will still not pronounce it like that if that is really important to you.

I agree. People will likely get it wrong regardless because it is what they are used to hearing. My name is AuBrey and I get AuDrey all the time. Even by cor-workers I have had for years. I say one thing, people hear another.

Pretty much what others said. I concur with stay.

My name is common, but spelled differently. People always spell it wrong, or call me a different name all together. Majority of the time, I'll correct but in a nice way!

I went to school with a girl who was a "stah-cia" she spelled it the same way as you. I remember her telling us once in like third grade and then everyone knew how to say it, no big deal. Your daughter will correct people who she plans to see again and probably not bother other times. That's what I did with my maiden name... Sometimes you're like "who cares?" (Btw, it's pronounced the way it's spelled, so it bothered me when people tried to make it all crazy)
